Anyone out there apply? I have seen threats for previous years, but none for this year. Just thought I would get one going!

hi guys, so for a while mine read "complete", then it changed to "an initial review had been completed, you will receive a letter shortly" and that its what it still says. yesterday I received a letter saying that I've made it into the applicant pool and will receive a decision by march 15th.

Yeah obrien I agree with GK. You should just give then a call Monday if it hasn't updated. I called them when my status said incomplete and they at least confirmed with me that they received my stuff, but it just hadn't updated yet.

as for UMBdude, I'll see you in the fall! Glad to see some other male nursing students other than myself

Thanks JR and congrats to you! Will you start clinical right away in the Fall?

I emailed. But I think I'm just going to call in the morning on monday. Sometimes email doesn't get handled as fast as it would if you were on the phone. I would hate to have it affect my admissions decision..... Congrats, UMBDude!

Thanks OBrienMP. Best of luck to you!

That's a good question! I really hope so. I have many courses done already that I've completed at Quincy College throughout my time earning an associates degree there. I did my own check online for which classes transfer, and if I read it correctly then most of them do. I'll have to wait and get an official word on which do transfer though. My fingers are crossed that I've already got about 7-8 courses out of the way thus far

I just received my acceptance letter in the mail. I'm so excited! Looks like i will be seeing some of you in the fall :) Good luck everyone!

Woohoo! Congrats! It's nice to get it out of the way. Now for the fun part

Congrats, GK!

I finally just spoke to someone at UMass and my transcripts were under my maiden name. She said it won't affect my admission decision since I did send them on time and they just got mixed up. She was wicked nice about it. Hopefully I will be seeing you guys in the fall! Send me some good vibes, people!

Hell yeah! Best of luck obrien!

Hi all! And congrats to all that got in already! I submitted my application all the way back in Nov thinking that they has a spring traditional BSN( since it said on their website) but turns out it was only for special exceptions so they rolled it over to the Fall. I then got a call about a month ago saying that I was one of the top candidates(of the apps so far) and that I was able to start in the spring....only in a way they were trapping me because there is one class that is only offered there that must be taken before you start clinicals(first semester) called NSG 212 or something along those lines. I wasn't able to go so stayed back to finish the rest of my pre-reqs and talked to a couple of different people saying that I could indeed take that NSG class in summer if I filed as non-matriculated. It was all a whole bunch of confusion. So hopefully I get in and so do all of you! A little info about me- 3.86 science, 3.709 overall, 79% TEAS, CNA and HHA license but no experience, rec letter from anatomy professor... so yes I was definitely surprised they were trying to admit me earlier reading all of your statistics, best of luck!

Also, I've read in past posts that if your major stays on nursing and doesn't change into your secondary choice then that means you most likely have gotten in if your status says your letter is being mailed out. Has this still applied to anyone?

And I would be coming from San Diego, CA. I heard a couple good and bad things about this program, but any specific input from anyone...that know people who've gone through it, etc.?

Hi cquachie

Congrats on your acceptance. I'm glad you mentioned that the requires nursing class can be taken in the summer. I'm going to look into this as I feel as though I have many curriculum classes finished from a previous degree. As for the program, I have heard things, both good and bad as well, but I've heard similar things for almost all nursing programs.

The one thing I can confirm is that Umb's program is very respected. Of course most bachelor programs are, but it believe employers will be happy to see this program on our resumes

I agree with JR. From what I've heard (couple of hiring manager and friends who have relatives in nursing), umb's nursing program is well regarded. I have no doubt about the quality of education of UMass.

If you have 75 credits or more (or a previous BS degree), definitely talk to the nursing academic advisor as soon as you get the acceptance letter. I think it might be possible to waive out of NU 212, or at least get it done with over the summer (it was offered last summer).
