UMass Boston fall 2014 Traditional BSN

Published

Anyone out there apply? I have seen threats for previous years, but none for this year. Just thought I would get one going!

This is the link to the undergraduate nursing student handbook, here you can find what to expect and what they expect from you in the program. I hope it helps :)

Hello,

Is anyone going to the Clinical Course Orientation on 5/16? If you are, please PM me and let me know.

Thanks!

Hmm, is that for the traditional option? I'm going to orientation on Thursday, the 1st. Excited!

Yes it's for the traditional option. But it's an orientation for if you're taking NU226, which includes a clinical component.

How do you know already what classes you are taking?

Well I'm a 2nd degree student from Umass so I waived out of all distribution courses. I've also finished all pre-reqs that are required to take the first clinical course (Intro to Nursing). Basically I'm starting the 4th semester of the curriculum and I only need to take the nursing courses.

hi @umbdude sorry to respond to such an old post, and I hope you're enjoying your umb nursing experience. I just wanted to ask you: I will be starting at umb this fall and have completed all non nursing prereqs, I was wondering if you had to take NU212 (health promotion and teaching) before you were allowed to take NU226. I was hoping to start my first clinical in the 4th semester of the curriculum similarly to yourself.

@Jaekaydee

Welcome and congrats! I didn't have to take NU212 because I already had a BS degree from umb years ago. According to the nursing student handbook, you must take NU212 before taking NU226.

I would suggest that you make an appointment to talk or meet with one of the nursing advisers to clear this up soon. If you already have a BS you might be able to waive 212 or if you must take it, you can try taking it over the summer so it doesn't hold you back from taking NU226 in the fall.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for your response @umbdude ! I appreciate it, I am going to try to take it over this summer.
