I started this thread to list websites that can be used as resources for those working in or looking to work in the United Kingdom. I have added the potential to list European sites that may be useful as well especially for any who might want to go on a working holiday.
I will start the thread but will rely on everyone to add to the thread:D
I hope this will grow to be a valuable resource for all.
Here is the Uk registration board
Here is a nursing resources search engine.
Here is another site
I've been working as a nurse in the NY for a little over a year now. I currently work on a cardiac floor. I am really interested in working as a nurse in England. I've already taken my IELTS test and I am almost done with my apllication for the NMC. I didn't realize though how difficult it would be for an American trained nurse to work in England. I've also gotten in touch with a few agencies in London who seemed very positive about me finding work. I don't know what to think right now. Is this process going to be long and drawn out or will it be fairly easy? Is there anyone out there who was trained in the US who went through this process recently and had to deal with the new standards for the NMC? I'm getting a little nervous about this and any advice would be helpful!

I think the hardest thing will be doing the 20 days protected study time as there are long waiting lists apparently for few places as there isn't many regognised courses run by the universities and whithout doing the course you won't get your number which will enable you to work in the UK.
Still a bit unsure about agencies getting you work as a lot of hospitals are laying off staff including nurses and using less agencies due to cost. Kay the mod on here used to be incharge of her ward budget and was limited on employing agency staff. Also living in London will be very expensive but wish you all the best and if I can help please feel free to pm me
Unfortunatly money is so scare at the moment and despite it being a new financial year, it's so difficult to say whether Foreign can get employment in Uk at the moment.
Hello there, Im a Canadian nurse living in the UK. Are there any other types of work for a nurse besides working for the NHS?
Thank you in advance

there is work in private hospitals, and if you have occupational health course you could work for companies with their own occ health departments

I am not sure if the NVQ will help you especially with immigration.
