  1. Hi, currently a RN in Singapore and am expressing interest working in Melbourne and taking up PR as well. Where should I go and apply my registration? THe Nurses Board of VIctoria? Can someone fill me in about Australian Nursing and Midwifery council. It got me pretty confused. WHich is the first step I should take? Registrating with the Nurses Board of Victoria first then ANMC-> Assessment of skill Form B? Or could I do both at the same time?
  2. Is it a better opition going over to UK to apply for the ONP or should I just wait.
  3. I have both...
  4. Yeah I meant sodium modeling. The machines I'm currently using are Fresenuis ones.
  5. My clinic has been forbidden to do sodium profiling on patients, but now, my Nephrologist is beginning to implement this profile. Can anyone fill me in with sodium profiles because I've never done it before. According to the manager, the reason why we are not allowed to do so is because during the HD, sodium is given to the patient and they fear that if at any point of time, if there's a pause in HD, the sodium given to the patient would not be taken back by the machine.
  6. For my clinic's practice, we attached it to the venous port and infused it manually. I'm not so sure if you were to attach it to the arterial port and let the anitbiotic pass thru the dialyzer, would it be dialyzed out. I have yet to find out. After a long debate about the manual infusion, we decided to use IV pump as it's much safer. Post dialysis antibiotic infusion, we used to maual infuse and keep a close watch on it. We had never practice removing the air from the bags.
  7. Thanks a million for the advice. I've surfed the net and found another alternative which is to go over, and study this National Vocational Qualification, which, I have no idea what it's for and I reckon that it's like an Assistant Nurse? Anyone can fill me up on this? I have thought of another way going to UK, which is to take up my Masters, but I doubt I can work as a nurse over there , knowing the fact that it's so tough finding a job. Now my main concern is, if I can ever find a part time job which can support me while I am doing my education. :uhoh21:
  8. I'm a registered nurse from Singapore. Got into the nursing course because my O levels didnt actually qualify me into any other courses in the local polytechnic. It sounds so stupid. Initially, when I got accepted into the nursing course, I thought that only "idiots" or people whom had no other choices ended up being a nurse. Most people in Singapore, esp the elderly, thinks that nurses are dumb, their main responsibilites are to clean up the mess that the patients created and be a maid to the doctors. To them, only the doctors are considered GODs. It was only after the post SARS period that the public started to see nurses as a noble profession. I wasnt a good student, ended up retaking some of my written examinations and often skipped classes. Fortunately for me, I managed to graduate in time, secured myself a fantastic dialysis job and finished my part time degree. Perhaps, to me, nursing was a job meant for me. From the initial hate for nursing, I started to love it and am so proud being a nurse. Nursing isnt just a job, its more than a job, its a job which is extremely rewarding. I can never see myself doing anything else besides nursing.
  9. I'm a Registered Nurse from Singapore and really keen in working in the UK. I understand that we need to do a 20-days placement but I have no idea that they are charging us for it. Is it true? I'm in the mist of the NMC application and the NMC new policy seems so scary... Is it that hard to find a job over there?
