uk nurses who have come to the usa

Published

I am in the usvi, and have been here nearly a year, maybe all the nurses who have posted their news about immigration, can now post about the differences in the us hospitals. I dont think that american doctors and nurses fully understand where we come from, and the working environment of the nhs, its only when we get here that we can understand the differences. I am sure that stateside hospitals are different even from here. and that they also vary from state to state, but maybe nurses who are waiting to come will be able to pick up some tips and know more than us what to expect.

christine....from wales to scotland to united states virgin islands, and then to the states, in january.

I am with OGP who refused to state which service centre they use 'because it causes problems'. Passed NCLEX in June and was told originally I140 takes approximately 3-4 months, then told would hear nothing till November at the earliest Anybody know how long it takes from the time they received the I140papers? Did find out that they have a receipt date of 02 August 05, but refuse to state the service centre. BON is New Mexico and OGP are based in Savannah, GA so thought that Texas would be the services centre and was pleased to see currently processing with receipt dates before 03 August 05, but then somebody suggested it might be Vermont. Any ideas? It would be good to have some idea of a timeline.

Thanks

i passed the NCLEX at the same time as you, with OGP mine has been filed with vermont, and they tell me that it should be november/dec when i get my I140. if you look at vermont website they are processing march!!! but i did get told that they process their applications in batches, i dont know if that is true but im holding onto the hope that it is.

I just wish I had some idea, they are very worried about giving out information (OGP) its like getting blood from a stone. They told me I didn't need to know which service centre they use as they are sorting it out - its almost as if you shouldn't ask! Can I ask do you have a placement yet?

Colette

Be aware that I have seen placemements change with OGP. Until you have it in writing where you will be, then anything can be changed.

The BON has nothing to do with where your papers for immigration are filed, it is actually based on where the employer is located. But since they have offices all over, they sometimes play the game as to who is fastest.........that is one of the reasons that Vermont slowed down, inappropriate requests were put thru their center because they were faster, and now they are going over each application with a fine tooth comb.
