I will be applying into the Bachelors of Science in Nursing program at UFV for January 2020 Intake.
Currently have A-English B-Bio B-Chem and a B-Math of which math I will be upgrading this summer to an A, hopefully.
I am also a RCA and have a lot of volunteer experience as well in the health care field
Would this be a strong enough application? Also, if anyone has experienced the information session or interview please do mention how it works and if there's any way to prepare or sort of get a better idea on what they're expecting.

I just learned they did the same for me. I was sitting at a 91 prior to the provincial and got bumped down to a 73 after the provincial ?. I called the office of the registrar and they stated they can only access the blended mark from the official transcript. Why even bother mentioning taking the higher of two marks if this is the case? So frustrating.

Ugh yeah they told me if you sent your transcript electronically it will be your blended grade that they receive only!! soo annoying. I would say get your school of record to send them a transcript showing your class grade of 91 before the provincial so they can fix it for you. They won't start looking at applications for a few weeks so you will be fine!! Just get a transcript from your school when their off-break ? best of luck xoxo
Hey there,
Question for all of you that have applied: when you look at the table (at the bottom of your application status) which states the requirements and notes, are the grades assigned beside the prerequisites your high school grades or the converted versions of the UFV grading scale? For example, you got 85% which is considered a B in high school, does the requirement show the letter grade B or the UFV grade scale mark of A?
Thanks for checking!

For the essay, definetly read and understand the responsibilities and requisites of a registered nurse because your essay question will probably be along the lines of that. For the interview, there’s no good way to prepare, some questions were about procrastinating since part of the program is self study but there were also questions about self care and hard to answer questions like a challenging time in your life type thing.
That really sucks if they're taking the blended grade because just like one of you mentioned, the provincial also brought me from an 86 to a 74. The rest of the classes I had high B's in as well but I still applied just for the sake of it. I am planning to retake most of them to use in the next intake if I don't get in which I feel I won't based off of competition; however, I am taking AP 2 next semester which may make it difficult to do so. Have any of you applied anywhere else? I feel like most schools only have intakes for September.

Popping in from Jan 2020 at BCIT.
BCIT has January, April and September intakes. Langara has January and September intakes. Neither BCIT or Langara keep wait lists, you just have to keep applying every intake till you get in. I’m not sure about intakes and waitlists elsewhere but I would recommend applying at a few different institutions for your BSN.
Goodluck!
For BCIT I have heard that it's close to impossible to get in if you don't already hold a bachelors in something because it is that competitive. It was initially my 1st choice because it has a great nursing program and it close to home but because of that and the fact that I still have AP 2 to get through, I haven't applied there.
For Langara, I have talked to the advisers and I know some people who have applied and are on waitlists that are going for as long as 3-4 years.
However, for September I will have more choices because of all these schools outside of the province and city too that don't have wait lists so theres higher chances of getting in.

As of 2012 Langara does not keep a waitlist. I applied for there and bcit and got into both but accepted BCIT for Jan.
As for the BCIT application, I do not hold a bachelors. I’m a nuclear med tech in the hospital with a two year technical diploma. BCIT looks at previous education, and work experience and then gpa. It’s really an entire package—the Casper exam, your application and then the personality quiz if you are short listed
Its always worth a shot applying!
