HI:)
I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's Accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.
My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.
But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.
Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?
I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.
I finished getting all of my materials in last week and am already DYING to hear back. Some haughty UF student on another forum was saying how this program only accepts a very small amount of non-UF students and also degraded my degree by saying FGCU is not even considered a school to UF. He told me I would not be able to get in even with a 4.0 and I was very offended. I graduated with a 3.71 GPA with above a 3.5 prerequs and above a 3.5 in last 60 credits and a 166 quant, 154 verb, and 4.0 w. Also, I have worked as a CNA in nursing homes, volunteered in hospitals, and been a TA for science classes. Is there any truth to his comments? I am looking for some reassurance that UF does not look down upon other schools like mine and I am a good applicant for the program. Any comments would be appreciated. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Not much longer to wait

I can't imagine why someone would say something like that, akinney613, but I wouldn't take it to heart. I doubt UF discrimates against other schools and, even if they do, you have great credentials so I don't think you need to worry. Best of luck to you and to all other applicants!
current uf student here as well. i hope we find out at the end of february. uf is the only school i applied to, so i feel like my future is on the line..
and i really think that uf counts FGCU as a reputable school. i wouldn't worry about that akinney613. i do hear they take more uf students, but that's a skewed variable because I'm sure more UF students apply.
i met 5 graduates of the absn at a party the other night, and literally all of them now have jobs in gainesville. gave the same basic advice i've heard from everyone-- study your butt off for patho and pharm...
good luck to everyone!
tebowlover- UF is the only school I have applied to also. I really do not want to go anywhere else/start over. So much for the saying "never put all of your eggs in one basket"..Good luck to you!
akinney- I do not believe that is true. There are plenty of transfer students at UF, they do not discriminate. If you are above and beyond the requirements, I am sure you will be fine.
Many of my friends in my major are finding out that they have been accepted to their graduate programs, and are celebrating! Hopefully we will all be able to do that soon as well!

if you really want to know about your application go and ask ms beaty ( cant remember if her name is hope or rebecca ...weird i know) anyway just go to the back she is the one compiling all of the applications, she can tell you why their would be a hold, and you don't even have to wait in line to see her. I hope Ken is the one reviewing the applications because he was the one who gave me my information, and I feel like to change it all the sudden to someone else's preferences would be unfair. I heard he was sick or something.
