UF Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

HI:)

I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.

My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.

But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.

Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?

I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.

Thanks K2012! I think as long as you have over the 500 for each section of the GRE you should be fine, especially since you have a good GPA. If you look at my older post you will see my stats. I'm hoping my GRE scores will make up for my 3.55 upper division.

Yeah your GRE scores are high so it should make up for your GPA, although your GPA doesn't seem low to me. Good luck j8911!

That's exciting to know that we may know by the end of February..makes things very real :) LOL. Random question about the letters of recommendation..my recommending folks did not live in my area and mailed the letters back to me. Does anyone know if they have to be sealed or can I just submit them unsealed with the rest of my things? I was just waiting on them to arrive so I could send the rest of my documents.

I think it is probably better for them to be sealed but it may not be a requirement. I would check with one of the advisors about that.

So I took the revised GRE this january and I got a 148 on the quantitative and a 150 on the verbal :/ and I believe you could only take the GRE once a month so I won't be allowed to retake it before the Feb. 1 deadline. But I have a 3.68 overall GPA and a 4.0 upper division GPA. Hopefully that makes up for my low gre scores. I am so happy that will be finding out end of feb or beginning of march. Thanks for sharing that info. Good Luck to everyone :)

Hey guys,

So I spoke with Wanda today and she told me we would find out end of March, early April. I'm not sure what to think now since poodle5 heard end of feb/early march. :uhoh3:

yeah really...she told me early march...maybe she doesn't know...where's ken...what happened to him!?!

I have been wondering the same thing...I am used to dealing with him. Hopefully he will be back soon.

Any advice on the personal statement? I took the GRE 3 years ago and got a 480 and 650-not very competitive but I applied to every school in Florida almost. I'm nervous I won't get in anywhere. I'm thankful UF looks at your Masters GPA b/c I just graduated. So I'm finished with everything except my statement. Suggestions on what to include and what not to include? Good Luck to everyone!

Is anyone else currently a UF student? I just checked my ISIS account and I have a hold that says I need to meet with a pre-nursing advisor. Has anyone else had this issue? I called & emailed Wanda and Ken last week and still have not received a response. I really hope everything is ok with my application since the deadline is tomorrow!

ABSNhopeful2012... I am a UF student and have the same hold. Maybe all UF students have it?? I don't think we have anything to worry about though... I spoke to Ken yesterday and he said if there was a problem with the application they would try and contact us. Hope this helps! :)

It could be because you are UF students. I am not currently a UF student and therefore cannot check my application status online. So maybe because you are technically a student-even though not a nursing student, it recognizes you and places the hold.

Either way, good luck!
