  1. I'm having similar difficulties butter&jelly and I do have some nursing experience. I graduated in August 2013 and worked at my last job from october 2013 until last month when I had to relocate to the Jax area. I have had a few interviews but haven't secured a job. Many of my applications are denied without even an interview. I have seen that there are openings at the place sally MSW mentioned...I may apply there also. Good luck to you!
  2. Hi there! I live in Ocala but work as an RN in the Gainesville area. Ocala and the surrounding area (The Villages for example) have numerous nursing homes/rehab centers and assisted living communities because of our high senior population. I haven't worked at any of them but am familiar with a few. I'm sure with your experience you would have no problems. Home health also seems to be a big thing here also.
  3. I lived in Tampa several years ago and enjoyed living there. At the time I was not an RN but did work at St. Joseph's Hospital as a social worker. I thought the hospital was really great to their employees. If I was in the area I would definitely consider working for them again. I know several new RNs who work at Tampa General and enjoy working there. Not sure about the pay scale in Tampa I want to say possibly 25 base and above..
  4. marta- I had not heard anything yet either and finally decided to call Ken this afternoon. He thought he had already called me to give me the update on my status. I have a conditional acceptance (as long as I pass my last pre-req this semester)!! I'm picking up my letter on Monday morning. Hope you get good news too! :)
  5. I'm thinking that's probably the right guess poodle. I checked my mail and nothing today. I'm just ready to know though one way or another..Congrats to everyone who got great news today!!! Hopefully the rest of us waiting will hear something soon.
  6. twobirds- I am finishing up at SF College. I'm taking A&P2 online with Sara Smith and also taking epidemiology. We were probably in the same micro class (Dr. Rios..hybrid). I remember there were several ppl in the class who were planning on applying to UF. Good luck to everyone! Congrats to gator.girl.12 for the awesome news!!!
  7. That's awesome Marta! I hope it will work out for you. I work full-time shift work but outside of Gainesville. Unfortunately I don't think there is any way I would be able to keep up w/ 12 hour work days and a full time school schedule. I've been at my job for over 5 years so it will be a bittersweet choice. Plus, I do worry about the drastic cut in income. Thankfully my husband and I had discussed this way before I applied so I'm hopeful things will work out.
  8. How many of you are currently employed full time? If so, any of you guys nervous about having to quit work to go back to school full time?
  9. I got a call from Ken today too about my transcripts. Apparently because they were under my maiden name they got misplaced. Luckily they had them and will post shortly. Ken told me the same thing about updating my status. I would really hope they wouldn't call about those things just to shoot us down in the end..
  10. Wow! I can't believe we will hopefully hear back this week. I'm anxious and nervous but trying to not worry about it too much. UF is the only ABSN program I applied to. Like several of you have mentioned, I am not sure if my GRE scores were good enough but I'm hoping my GPA and work experience will even things out. GOOD LUCK to everyone!!! Try and stay positive
  11. That's exciting to know that we may know by the end of February..makes things very real :) LOL. Random question about the letters of recommendation..my recommending folks did not live in my area and mailed the letters back to me. Does anyone know if they have to be sealed or can I just submit them unsealed with the rest of my things? I was just waiting on them to arrive so I could send the rest of my documents.
  12. Hi everyone! This is my first time applying for the program and like most of you am concerned about my GRE scores. I have scheduled to take the test but haven't taken it yet. Any recommendations on study guides? I've actually got one last pre-req that I will be taking this upcoming spring semester. Although the website says you can still be taking them in spring..it makes me nervous about my chances. I know it's a gamble but since I work full time I had to push my last class on to the next semester. I knew if I did too much at one time plus working I would not do as well. I haven't taken the recommended epidemiology class either. I tried to enroll for it this upcoming semester but our registration system would not let me. I think I will have to get approval if I choose to take it. I may retake statistics instead to get a better grade. Good luck to everyone!
