UF Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

HI:)

I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.

My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.

But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.

Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?

I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.

Well my petition for admission was denied...just got the email today. Good luck to the rest of you who are waiting on a response and to those of you who got accepted! God bless

so sorry....I won't lie, I'm expecting a denial as well...but I figure I won't know if I don't try....Keep your head up! Have you applied anywhere else or will you for the Fall?

Just got me petition denial email as well :(....oh well on to the next! Good luck to the rest of you!

You are dead on. Administration particularly the financial aid office is slow to respond or do not respond at all. I have never met this level of neglect and disregard for students in financial need. If you are considering attending from out-of-state- DON'T. It is so not worth it. I was and still am disappointed. They NEVER give you a financial aid package, you essentially have to figure it out yourself - and it is all loans.

Regarding clinical experiences, the local community college reportedly gets substantially more clinical hours than UF students and apparently are able to snatch up jobs more readily than UF graduates. As for the curriculum it appears to be going under revision - again. Take that for what it is.

If there is another choice that is a better choice - go there

Just curious -- Did UF's Accelerated program change from being 2-year to 1-year?

Or was it always a 1 year program?

Thanks in advance!

Hey gwelltravaille: I believe the Accelerated program was always one year :)

Hey guys! I'm a current Gator nursing student and am selling all of my books for 550. I bought both the textbooks and electronic but prefer electronic so I have never used my physical textbooks. They are still brand new and the current ones that they require. If you buy the textbook package for the first semester it will cost you around 700 after taxes. If you buy the Text and E-books it will be 800 +. The only book that you will have buy is the Kozier & Erb's Fundamental of Nursing book as it doesn't come with the Elsevier package. Trust, you will need this book though. I have an e-book of the psych and Davis Drug guide books that I will throw in as well. Let me know if you guys are interested. I will be one of the mentors at the orientation.

Congrats to those who were accepted! See you guys next wednesday!

I'm unable to respond to PM's. I can bring them to orientation. Please be awar that you MUST purschase e med-surge and pharm book next semester as ey sell these in entirely diff packages that include the HESI practice material. It's in your best interest to stay ahead of all your classes this semester. Read BEFORE going to patho class and study/memorize the lectures AFTER class. It's more challenging if you get behind. Did you want the ebooks of Davis drug guide and psychology? We will speak more during orientation! Congrats again!

I was accepted too!! I'm sooooooo excited! I will be faxing the paperwork to secure my spot first thing tomorrow morning! HOORAY for Gator Nurses! :w00t:

Cash is preferred. See you there!
