UF Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

Published

HI:)

I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's Accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.

My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.

But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.

Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?

I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.

akinney, I thought about applying elsewhere, but I decided to take the prereqs particular to UF, so I'm missing a few that USF and UCF would require... FSU has an accelerated program that begins in Spring, so that's my second choice if I get rejected...

With that said, I think I'm a strong candidate, so I'm hoping UF just likes me enough to not have me be a traitor and go to FSU. Go Gators!

GatorLove, I completely agree. Starting over with new friends, new city, new housing would be a hassle for just a year. I feel like I only now fully take advantage of Gainesville..

My friends are getting in to med/vet/grad schools too, and I just want to find out already.. Doesn't time seem to pass more slowly the closer it gets to March???

6 more weeeeeeeeksssss ahhhhhhhhh..........the suspense is killing me, i want in.....

I am feeling the same stresses as many other applicants. I too only applied to UF and am hoping to get in. My biggest stress is that I am currently working as a nanny and can not just up and quit my job the day I get in. I need at least 30 days notice and since this program now begins in May, I am hoping that we are told sooner rather than later. 6 weeks seems like a long time to wait...

sooo nervous! :uhoh21: The days never passed so slowly...well except for those two semesters of physics...ahhh! I just want to be a Gator nurse :nurse: lol!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that I spoke to Ken today and he said that decisions will go out in early April... I really hope they let us know sooner :uhoh3:

Wow April? That sucks. I should be hearing back from UCF Friday and I would think that I would have to give my answer before April if I get in...

yeah I got into Duke's accelerated program and I have to pay $500 by april 2nd to reserve a seat.. that only gives people a month to get things together...IT STARTS IN MAY!

April is way too late! I think everyone needs more than a month to get settled. Because I only applied to UF all my decisions are based on whether I get in : my job, where I live, etc. I wonder why it takes so long....

I guess UF likes playing hard to get  lol

I think that because this is the first year that they are starting the program in the summer they didn't give themselves enough time to look through all the applicants. The deadline used to be in March, but the program began in late August. Now the deadline is February 1, but the program begins in May... Doesn't seem like enough time to get everything together. Does anyone know the specific day that we begin? I believe it is mid-May, but I'm not sure.

Also how many people are accepted to the program?

They've had all of February to review applications. I can't imagine there were more than 500 applicants. They could have just as easily set a deadline to have decisions out by mid-March and met that deadline. Pretty disappointed I have to wait this long to know what my plans next year will be.
