Just wanted to start a separate thread for those whom have applied for UCSF's traditional MSN program for Fall 2014. I personally applied for AGNP program, crossing fingers. I initially wanted to apply last year but welcomed our 3rd child last August and thought it might be too much to take on at the same time.
From checking out some older threads and asking Student Affairs, it looks like we won't get word until late March or even early April.
Hi everyone! So I contacted the coordinator of the FNP program. She told me that currently all applicants offered admission to the FNP specialty have accepted their offers. And she also said it was unlikely to be admitted as an alternate if you are higher than #5 on the list. Seeing as how I'm currently higher than #5, I was advised to apply next year if I'm not accepted to another program this year. I'm still waiting to hear back from another school. Either way, I wish you all the best of luck on your journeys and congrats again!!

Euthymia, check out Zillow and Craigslist for rentals in the Bay Area.
Be prepared for sticker shock -- 1BR/1BA rentals average around $2300 in the vicinity of UCSF, and in much of SF. There are in-law units (basically renovated basements of individual homes), which are advertised on Craigslist and usually run somewhat cheaper than that. These are usually on the periphery of the City, since that's where most of the owner-occupied homes are located. Keep in mind that these are usually "illegal," although that isn't as shady as it sounds. It just means that most of the owners haven't gone thru the official City of SF channels to get permits to convert to in-law units. Many people live quite comfortably in these basic residences (mostly younger folks).
The better news is that living outside SF and commuting in to campus is quite doable, since there is a well-developed transit network consisting of BART, SF Muni, AC Transit(Alameda and Contra Costa Counties) and even ferry service.
I live in San Leandro, but within walking distance to a BART station, so i'll be commuting in from the suburbs and taking the N-Judah train on SF Muni to UCSF. It takes roughly 35 minutes to downtown SF, and then another 30 minutes to get to the UCSF campus. Not ideal, but since my rent is about $1000 cheaper living out here, it's worth it to me.
I'd tell you to PM me, but i'm not allowed to yet.
