  1. Hi all, wanted to start a thread and network with previous/ current students whom have attended Sonoma State University's FNP program. I'm very excited to finally get back to school after a long 9 years. Any advice or feedback from previous / current students would be highly appreciated! Thank you all in advance.
  2. Wanted to give a little update. So I'm in 3rd week of the 2nd quarter of the AGNP OEH program. It's doable but a lot of work, and the quarter system is very fast. The OEH program is a double major so there was much more school work than I expected. There are a few people that still work full time, but for the most part most of my classmates work very minimally. To those that are planning on applying. My advise is to get some volunteer experience, be it one week or 1 year, the faculty is only looking for any type of volunteer experience with an undeserved population. This would also be the main focus of your essay, in the desire to work with a specific undeserved population. I originally didn't get into the traditional AGNP program, I believe mainly on my lack of volunteer experience.
  3. awww, that's heart wrenching!!! Although UCI would be nice :). I went to Long Beach State and use to live in Anaheim. It's a nice area.
  4. yikes that is confusing, hoping you got a late spot into the program!!
  5. I got into the AGNP-OEH. I figured it was the same with AGNP but you just take a few more units and get a minor in Occupation Health.
  6. Actually not sure if I got into the regular AGNP or AGNP-OEH. My offer letter didn't specify. I'll call SJ tomorrow to figure it out. Thanks KELSRN and ISKA.
  7. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo............................... I got in!!!!! Woooohooooo! Best nurses week gift ever!
  8. Great choice tinatab!! A couple of my buddies are in that program and they love it. I was excepted to the program back in 2012, but wanted to move up to the bay area to be closer to family. I got 3 kids and need all the help I can get. :)
  9. Hi Hina, since the program starts in August, I believe you can hear back from the wait list all the way upto July.
  10. Congrats ksnurseks in being accepted!! I'm hoping to also get into the AGNP-OEH program after being wait listed for the regular AGNP. Not to sure if there is a huge difference between the two programs other than that you take more classes and get a minor in OEH. Did they discuss any scholarship or grant opportunities with you already?
  11. Are you referring to the Stats requirement being done within 5-6 years. I think it's actually a proven myth. If for some reason I don't end up getting in this year. I'm for sure applying next year and using their advise to improve my application.
  12. Keep your head up Hina, did you by any chance reach out to the coordinator or directors of the program. They are surprisingly easy to talk to and very helpful.
  13. So still impatiently waiting. Talked to a couple of the directors and I guess they will give me their decision within 9 days, but one said my application was "very strong". Any else get news?
  14. Congrats woofy!!!
  15. aww Angela, I wish you got better news.. Are you planning on applying next year? I've been told a few times that it helps if you speak directly with whom ever is coordinating admissions to the specialty. After receiving my "alternate" email, I talked to the Director of AGNP, and she was very personable and helpful. Should of reached out to the before the decisions were made
