Just wanted to start a separate thread for those whom have applied for UCSF's traditional MSN program for Fall 2014. I personally applied for AGNP program, crossing fingers. I initially wanted to apply last year but welcomed our 3rd child last August and thought it might be too much to take on at the same time.
From checking out some older threads and asking Student Affairs, it looks like we won't get word until late March or even early April.
aww Angela, I wish you got better news.. Are you planning on applying next year? I've been told a few times that it helps if you speak directly with whom ever is coordinating admissions to the specialty. After receiving my "alternate" email, I talked to the Director of AGNP, and she was very personable and helpful. Should of reached out to the before the decisions were made
Hi woofyrn! I hear you what more do they want...your stats are excellent! I also applied to UCSF Postmaster FNP and SFSU. I never received a letter I called the FNP coordinator and she told me I was a competitive applicant (4.0 GPA, 9 years of experience in critical care, 4 years working with underserved populations, 1 year of teaching, good references, and a good goal statement) she said there was 6 postmaster FNP applicants and only 15 FNP spots all together, she encouraged me to reapply and sometimes it depends on the applicant pool. I was a little depressed after I spoke to her and accepted it wasn't meant to be the next day. I have heard that they have accepted those with less than 1 year of experience but she did some research with a physician in the past.
So really I don't know what they want exactly from an applicant....
Good luck to everyone out there!
Congrats to everyone who got accepted! Sorry to those who didn't, I'm sure we all had stellar applications! I think denials reflect competition for limited slots more so than perceived deficiencies in our overall profiles.
Does anyone have any tips for buying or renting in the Bay Area? My spouse will be working in Oakland. We know very little about the area and commuting characteristics. Any info would be appreciated!!

No email yet, website still reads, "Under Review."
@angelasolleder, i'm really bummed that you didn't hear better news. I wanted everyone on this forum to get in, because I feel like I know you (since I re-read the posts nearly every day).
If I don't get in, I'm not sure what I'm gonna do....I have a 4.0 GPA, graduated magna cum laude from nursing school, 20+ years experience in ICU in a public hospital, implemented a CHF/case management program, volunteer with Project Homeless Connect, Habitat for Humanity and HIV charities; have good references, and a "interesting" story to tell in my personal history/goal statements.
I'm not trying to brag....I guess I keep on going over my "specs" to try and wrap my head around what more they could possibly want in a candidate. I've also applied to SF State for their graduate program also, but my first choice would be UCSF because of their HIV/AIDS program.
Good luck to everyone, wherever you end up. We all have something to contribute in whatever fields we end up choosing.
