UCSF MSN FALL 2014

Just wanted to start a separate thread for those whom have applied for UCSF's traditional MSN program for Fall 2014. I personally applied for AGNP program, crossing fingers. I initially wanted to apply last year but welcomed our 3rd child last August and thought it might be too much to take on at the same time.

From checking out some older threads and asking Student Affairs, it looks like we won't get word until late March or even early April.

ehh, it's been my internet routine for the last month. Facebook, hotmail, yahoo, 49erswebzone, allnurses (to this thread), and status application for UCSF. Good vibes to everyone that we hear soon, and we get in!!!!

@jojonavy - I was also in the basic program! If you are still interested in an NP/PA program, UC Davis has one that just received lots of funding for scholarships and grants!

Also - for those of you still waiting for a notification, I'm expecting it should be soon because I just looked on their website and saw that their spring break was this week. School resumes next week!

Thanks for the info about UC Davis .... I have a nurse friend who was expressing some interest in the program awhile back, but was also uncertain about the commute (we both live in San Leandro).

There's always the Capitol Corridor train which stops in downtown Davis. ;)

Darn, so maybe next year. According to SJ, there was 12 total admits and 8 for regular adult gero NP. Im 5th or 6th on the wait list. Good luck to everyone else!!

Darn it, I'm so disappointed for you! thank you for starting this thread and for giving us an opportunity to vent and connect. fingers crossed for the wait list for you. a nurse i worked with in the past got in from the wait list 2 years ago, so i know people really do get in via the wait lists.

Shoot, jojonavy.....I wished you'd gotten more hopeful news. I appreciate your letting us all share our anxieties here on this thread. I know further back you said you'd most likely apply again next year to some state schools. Good luck to you!

@jojonavy: you have great stats- I wonder what exactly they are looking for. I haven't heard from them yet. But atleast you got in the waitlist; would rather have that then nothing. So it would be just the waiting period of how many will accept the offer and how many will decline... I've checked my status and it still says under review... 12 accepted means to different specialty of AGNP, right? Wc could be AGNP-OHS or with an HIV focus.

Im so sorry to clarify, but do you mean only 8 out of 12 got accepted into regular AGNP? Or is that 8 students for regular AGNP AND 12 others for other AGNP specialties? Thanks

Good question, not to sure. Did you apply for the primary care Adult Gero? I guess the wait list is not bad, there might be more opening but they are limited with their faculty.
