UCSF MEPN 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, I just wanted to start this new topic for those like myself who are interested in applying to the MEPN program for the 2020 cohort.

Wishing everyone good luck on submitting the applications and hoping we get an interview invite.

I also noticed that in the Prezi it says that BOTH the Personal Statement & the Goal Statement should be about 2 pgs long.

Each one is allowed to be 2 pages, totaling 4 pages correct??

As for trimming it down, invite friends to help you! I have a few people reading over mine and they're super helpful suggesting edits and paring it down without compromising the message.

that's my understanding.

yep, had to scramble to get it done. Now the wait begins ?

My personal history statement actually ended up being 1 page. I emailed Steve to check if that's ok and he said yes! So the history statement can be shorter if you want it to be.

I finally submitted my application yesterday. Good luck to everyone!!!!! And to those who have not submitted the application yet, just be confident!!! You got this!!!!

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the great tips!

I am about to send my application for FNP. It was hard to make this choice, because I like AGPCNP too.

I actually started the application late, and had to scramble to put it all together to make it on time to submit. It looks like I will just make it in time!

I was set on going into an ABSN program first to get field experience and then getting a masters later on. But when I shadowed an FNP I realized that Primary Care is what I want to do now, not in 5 years! This revelation happened last week and on the same night I found out abut this Entry level program, which I am so excited about!

Anyone going to the info session on September 13?

Good luck to you all!

Hi Guys,

Good luck! I am lucky enough to be a MEPN this year. I think the most helpful step I took in my application process was going on Wyzant and having an English teacher look at my essays at the last minute. She advised me what to cut to make the two pages and she questioned me when my storytelling was weak.

UCSF is a progressive school that values diversity and people who overcome difficult experiences. It's ok to be open. GPA and quantifiable facts are a very small part of your application. I.e. I dropped out of college. So, I would take this last weekend to make sure you are trying to give them an impression of who you are and not trying to impress them with who you are.

May the force be with you.

@Psychache

Thanks so much for your input. Would you mind sharing what the interview process is like? The format of the interview (is it a group interview? or individual?) What kind of questions they ask you? and What is the best way to prepare?

Thank you so much again! Hope the program is treating you well!

They're all in! Now we wait! I want this program more than any other so I feel green around the gills but that's life! Good luck to all

Hi everyone! For someone who started this topic I seem to be least active ha ha..Anyway, I submitted application for AGPCNP-OEH over the weekend and I'm glad it's done! I just had to lay low because of how stressed out I've been from making sure my application was perfect enough to submit (especially those personal and goal statements). Some of my transcripts are still processing so I had to email Steven Johnson as a heads up about them so I hope they don't think I hadn't sent them in! Other than that, I'm glad this part's done! So the waiting game begins! How's everyone doing so far? Anyone else applying to other schools?

@IzaKhan I might go if it's not too late to rsvp (Also, i just happened to check the website just now - it is actually on Thursday, September 12 ?)

Good luck everyone! Sending positive vibes to you all.

Hi Everyone!

I'm new here and have just worked up the courage to even comment on this thread. I'm not very superstitious, but for some reason, I felt afraid. I've also been battling some "imposter syndrome" feeling like I'm less-deserving.

Welp, take a back seat, fear!

I sent in my application for MEPN 2020 over the weekend, AGCNS track with a focus in Palliative Care. It is my passion and it would be a dream come true to study at UCSF! There, I said it.

I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK to everyone who submitted applications. Whether we get into this program or not, we are all deserving of fulfilling our nursing dreams.

Sending good vibes to all!

Does anyone know how soon we will here what the next steps are? I am so anxious!

So anxious as well. I was on the phone with UCSF & they said first week of Dec. So far away ?
