Hi everyone, I just wanted to start this new topic for those like myself who are interested in applying to the MEPN program for the 2020 cohort.

So anxious as well. I was on the phone with UCSF & they said first week of Dec. So far away ?

Do they make their decision by the first week of December or do they just start interviews?

I believe that’s when they reject or invite for interviews.

Hi everyone,

Thank you for the great tips!

I am about to send my application for FNP. It was hard to make this choice, because I like AGPCNP too.

I actually started the application late, and had to scramble to put it all together to make it on time to submit. It looks like I will just make it in time!

I was set on going into an ABSN program first to get field experience and then getting a masters later on. But when I shadowed an FNP I realized that Primary Care is what I want to do now, not in 5 years! This revelation happened last week and on the same night I found out abut this Entry level program, which I am so excited about!

Anyone going to the info session on September 13?

Good luck to you all!

Wow, good job! I chose FNP as my specialty also. Good Luck

Please keep us posted with anything new you find out. The last e-mail i received was a few weeks ago confirming my application was complete and nothing was missing. FIngers crossed.

did any one go for the information session on the 12th? Would really appreciate some feedback on what ensued.

@selialy I did go, it was was interesting but no new information that they don't already have on the perzi presentation that is available online. I would say it was a mix of MEPN applicants and MSN students. The simply went over the program and their requirements.

Hello everyone, I am a current UCSF MEPN student in my pre-licensure year. I used this portal often during my application and would like to reach out and see if I can help alleviate any stress or answer any questions, so please let me know!

This time last year, it was radio silence. And unfortunately, it will continue to be until the Invite to Interview emails come out. Last year, they came on the last Thursday of November. Overall, plan for all major communications to come out on a Thursday by end of day. Interviews are the 2nd and 3rd Friday of January. Good luck!

Thanks @GoLo99 that is helpful to know! Radio silence is so nerve-wracking! Btw, how's your 1st year going and just curious what your specialty is in?

Good luck to you too ? Fingers crossed!!!

It is very competitive to get in!

The FNP program is the most competitive, but the biggest (more spots offered) program they have.

I was at the Info session too and @Marin520 is right, there was no new info really.

The best thing about it, was that I got to meet and talk to Lisa, who is the coordinator for the FNP program, which is what I applied for. I met Steven Johnson too, but he wasn't super friendly, he is probably stressed with all the applications! Although, Lisa was super welcoming and sweet! She answered a bunch of my questions about the program and NP career. She said that it is easier for actually Nurses to get into the Masters program, since the MEPN is so impacted, but that should not discourage any one... I recommend going to those meetings to network ?

@GoLo99 Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing info with us! Can you share what speciality you're in and how your experience has been so far?

Yes! And it’s also agonizing! But I learned it’s because of a long and very thorough application process. The entire applications committee read through every statement you submit, even those optional ones. Trust the process.

I am in the Adult Gerontology CNS track. I’m actually 1 of the 4 CNS students in the class of 78.

UCSF is by far incredible. The skills training is unbeatable. All classes are lined up to correlate with one another. For example, we’d be covering cardiac pathophysiology in class, working on cardiac assessments skills in another, and learning cardiac meds in a third. So the learning structure allows for you to learn so much at an accelerated pace.

As far as the environment, UCSF is very progressive, so you’re at the forefront of a lot of current issues, and the campus is thriving in many activities and advocacy groups. I didn’t expect that going in, but it’s been very educational.

@GoLo99 The advocacy is a huge element and it factor for me, in addition to the top-tier classes. Crossing my fingers so hard that I can make it to round 1!

On a side note - I'm applying to the CNM/WHNP track, would you possibly know the numbers or how many are in that cohort?
