  1. Had to just chime in because I saw something about diversity issues and as a black man who just got accepted to the psych specialty I think it’s important that we don’t shy away from these things but rather go into these spaces to effect the change we want to see in this world. Leadership has to start somewhere and it can start with us as minorities. We got this! Excited to meet and learn from you all!
  2. God is good! I’m going to be a Yale educated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner ??????
  3. Regardless of the outcome tomorrow , I just want to say it’s been an absolute Pleasure Sharing this once in a life time experience with you all. As bad as we all want this everyone has been open and willing to share ideas and information. Our cohort would be special.
  4. Hii I too plan on applying for the nurse corps scholarship. I just called the HRSA office and they said they had not cut funding for the 2020-2021 school year (for new applicants). It was just closed for the previous year. She even cross checked with her supervisor to confirm. So I guess that’s some good news for us.
  5. Literally had goosebumps when I read the part where she got her acceptance. Praying we all get in! We’ve worked very hard supporting each other along the way. Good news coming soon for us all!
  6. Hi everyone I had a question regarding scholarships. How generous are they and has any student received a full scholarship from the school ? Interviewing for psych on the 31st. Looking forward to meeting you all
  7. You’re right. It’s down to the wait game. We’ve come this far and given it our all.
  8. I too forgot to ask Urgh. Did anyone get to find out ?
  9. Hey since we are still in the process I am a bit hesitant to share my stats as I think they Are very peculiar to my life story. However I’ll be honest and tell you it definitely goes beyond Good grades. My gpa was pretty high but I think where I put the most emphasis was my resume, goal and personal statement. I tried to let them see the whole picture and what mental health meant to me as a person and community member. Whatever I said I aspired to do in my goal statement I made sure I backed it up with what I had done in my life to affirm my interest. Nurse practice to me goes beyond the clinical and I made sure to tell them specifically what I wanted to do beyond that and why UCSF was the perfect place for me to learn that.in My personal statement I really delved deep into my intimate fears and let them know how everything led me to the door step of UCSF. In a more mental way I basically pictured the 10 seats that maybe are available to psych mepn candidates, mentally pulled one seat and let them know why I deserved that seat, what UCSF could do for me and what I could also do to promote the schools mission. Hope that helps. Best of luck to everyone!! See you all in January!
  10. Got an interview For psych ! God is good !!
  11. I got an interview for psych !!! LETS GO!!!!
  12. Hi @valeriee11 I honestly wouldn’t put much thought into it unless you’re actually interested in attending the event. I too didn’t receive an email but then I remembered I had already registered for it through the informational session email they sent out somewhere in mid September. I plan to attend and will be happy to share with everyone what ensues. I’m specifically more interested in the learning about the research from the students. But you can surely register for it on their website if you’d like to attend.
  13. I kinda feel like psych would not do additional interviews considering most of the questions they are likely to ask as were already addressed in the recorded interview. But I most definitely could be wrong. We may just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
  14. Did everyone actually receive an email confirming they had submitted the application? I only see that I paid the fee but I don’t see anything about an actual submission although everything is checked off.
  15. How many people on average get an interview ?
