@StanfordBee you can see if your transcripts were received by clicking on transcripts.

@Anisap I hope you get in this time! ?

Anyone else having trouble keeping their goal statement at 2 pgs? Also I looked everywhere but don't see a required font size.. I wonder if it's okay to play with it and the margins just a bit.

Thank you ? mine doesn't say received yet, but I know Steven Johnson opened them- I will wait. As for the font, there isn't a mention as long as you follow below.

Hi all: I am working on getting this application in on time and curious how everyone is handling what seems to me a lot of overlap in the questions? Are you literally cutting and pasting answers from your Goal Statement to the Additional Information that asks the same thing?

Thanks, and good luck to all!

Yup, a lot of over lap. I am completing the additional background information today. I will copy and paste a few items from my goal statement.

@Haron717Thank you!!! Sending good vibes your way!!!??

@StanfordBee Thank you for your words of encouragement. As for advice... I honestly think you made all the marks for getting an interview and getting in. You have a lot of experience which is awesome!!! I received my rejection letter via email on 11/30.

Hi all, I am a current MEPN and remember how stressful submitting applications were. The cohort prior to mine was great and had numerous people reach out to help. I told myself if I was lucky enough to get in that I’d try to do the same for those that follow me. And so here I am!!! ? I know the application deadline is right around the corner but if you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck everyone!

Wow thank you so much for doing this!

-which speciality did you choose & why? Are there particular specialties that are “harder” to get into?

-how soon did you hear back after submitting apps & through which mode (tel/email)?

-what’s one thing you wish you’d known during the application process?

If you could give us one piece of advise to stand out in the application process, what would it be?

I am on the AGPCNP track. I chose this based on my prior experience and wanting to continue to help broad populations rather than being limited to just peds, oncology, etc. No specialty is “harder” than another. It truly depends on how many applicants each specialty is accepting that year. Generally speaking, FNP is the most applied too. But for example we have a lot of people on the psych track in my cohort as well.

After submitting my application I believe I heard back (via email) on interviews later November and interviews were held across several days in January.

One thing I wish I had known about the application process would be how helpful UCSF staff are. The staff are incredibly helpful and will answer any questions! If you haven’t already email Steven Johnson, who is a great resource.

Make the application personal. Staff should be able to get a sense of who you are by your application. This is something I struggled with. I couldn’t tell you how many times I had to shred and/or restart areas throughout my application! Hopefully you have someone reviewing your application (if not, get one, or two, or five trusting people). Accept criticism, make corrections, and don’t be afraid to completely restart.

@UCSFMEPN19

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer our questions. My question is what is the interview process like, is a group-based interview? What do you they ask you typically? Are there some questions that individually directed towards applicants?

Thanks again!!

Hi all,

My personal statement is much longer than 2 pages, is anyone else in the similar situation? I notice the goal statement guideline mention an approximate 2 page note, but don't see that for personal statement.

I was and then I emailed Steve & he encouraged me to trim it down.

I also noticed that in the Prezi it says that BOTH the Personal Statement & the Goal Statement should be about 2 pgs long.

@Haron717 Thank you for your prompt response. It's going to be a challenge trimming it down, but I am glad I know.

Hi @cluo @PreNurseC !!

I'm also applying to the PMHNP program for the first time. What's you guys' background when it comes to psych?

Sorry for the late response : ) This application process is overwhelming. I have experience working with homeless and a counselor for crisis text line. I also wonder what experiences they are looking for PMHNP.
