UCLA new RN residency program 2010

Hi,

I just wanted to start a thread for people applying to UCLA's new grad program this year. I have filled out the application online, but wondered if I should send a hard copy too. Does anyone else have any information? I heard that for the last new grad class, they had more than 800 applicants for 80 slots. Kind of discouraging...

Hi everyone - Im just inquiring of you who have been contacted for the New Grad program. Are you all from California with BSN's? My friend and I both applied, we are second Bachelor's/BSN but we are in Boston. I heard they contact local applicants first. Just trying to get an idea of the process here :) Thanks for keeping everyone updated on your progress.

Hello, I am from Boston as well! They contacted me via email last thursday saying to expect a phone call from Talent Plus and an e-mail for the skills survey check but so far I have not received either one. Human resources told me that I should get one by Monday, if not then call them.

An update: I just got a call from talentplus and set my interview for tomorrow :); and got the link to put my references in :), though I'm a little confused since one email says put at least 3, 2 from previous managers/supervisors/professors and the other email says 5 references which 3 from past managers/supervisors or 4. Don't know what to follow, lol. So be patient and optimistic as much as possible.

Yea I wasn't sure how many to give them in regards to references...so I just gave them 5 haha...better safe than sorry. BTW does anyone know how much UCLA considers Talenplus interview in regards to your other qualifications...I had mine last week and I thought I did well..but you never know:((....GOod luck everyone!

Hi betra123, which school are you at, and are you currently working as a CNA? Im just trying to understand who was contacted and who wasnt.

For everyone who has been contacted with BSN's, are you all currently working as CNA's or Nursing Assistants at hospitals, and have great GPA's? Im trying to figure out the process of who is getting contacted and who isnt and why, just for future reference :)

Well, my experience is nada in nursing...I have a BS in Kinesiology and BSN, my nursing gpa was a 3.5 for nursing school.

I have a BSN, currently working as an LPN (in a nursing home and psych hospital), and have a 3.95 GPA...

I got the email a week ago but still haven't heard anything...have a lot of you gotten the link and the call already?

i just got the call today and my phone interview set for saturday with talent plus (finally!). but in all honesty -- i really don't think you should rule out yourself if you haven't heard anything at this point. we just submitted applications last week and the last cohort had well over 800 applicants..plus they just closed the application this past monday. so don't give up hope yet!

Hi all,

I thought I'd contribute my status in the application process. I applied the first day (Oct 25) at 9 am. Status that was listed for the application changed from ~"all documents complete" to ~"I will be contacted for an interview" on Monday 11/1. Yesterday 11/3 I got an email thanking me for applying for a nursing position (no mention of new grad residency program, unlike other emails my classmates received) and stating that I should do the Talent Plus interview and get 5 recommendations lined up. Talent Plus phoned me within an hour and I have an interview next Tue. I have had no jobs in the nursing field, now or in the past---just clinical rotations in school. My choices for units: step down/med surg at RR or SM, 2) oncology at SM 3)neuro trauma ICU at RR
