Hey guys - I also didn't receive that email regarding start dates/locations and was extended the offer yesterday. It must have been sent to an initial batch of new hires and am assuming that offers are still ongoing. Tomorrow is another day though - I'm rooting for you guys and hope that you will have good news to share with us shortly!! Keep us updated!

SarahLT_RN & ILoveAlaska - Thank you :) I got the call around 1:40pm Pacific time from 619 area code. I really didn't think they would continue to work over the weekend! I got offered a position at 4W surgical acute (in LJ). The start date is 04/11/11 (but not sure if this applies to all units). SarahLT- you said you interviewed for 4E right? Would be awesome to work on the same floor at least Keep us updated! good luck & positive vibes to you guys!!

Agh. how frustrating I clearly remember HR saying that we should expect to hear something by the end of this week -- offer or not. I may be optimistic, but I really do think they haven't finished making ALL calls as of yet - and with good reason as it must be difficult on their end to choose 55 out of 300 or so well qualified applicants. To those who were already extended offers: congrats on your success and all the best beginning your new careers at Scripps :) For the rest of us still waiting to hear something - I'm taking it as a good sign that we at the very least didn't get any rejection emails...so lets try to enjoy the beautiful weather (at least in so cal) and see what next week brings us :)

Thanks InTime - just out of curiosity, are they only hiring 30? I thought the email said they were planning to hire between 20-50 (hoping 50!) - but didn't get any confirmation as to the exact number.

congrats sooperdooper! :) you had to choose between 2 units right? which unit did you end up choosing? has anyone else received a call?

engineer2nurse - i also worked full-time in SD and did all my science prereqs during the evenings at San Diego mesa & miramar city colleges. There are also online options for nutrition and developmental psyc if you have yet to take that. Those were the days when my schedule was 7am-10pm straight; sounds intense but it was necessary - especially when I didn't want to hint to my work that I had plans to go back to school. As far as the prereq classes, I finished my ABSN at NYU and worked as an orientation leader for new students - so I know for a fact that they do accept students to their ABSN program who still have pending prerequsite classes. This would entail you to finish your remaining prereqs at NYU before starting the ABSN program--but at least you are in the program. Good luck!

sooperdooper - didn't hear anything as i only interviewed with one unit. but i agree - that can only mean fantastic news for you!! :)

sugarlips - i don't see the harm in applying. i applied for the program last oct when i graduated in december and was able to interview & offered a position. as long as your BSN is conferred prior to the start date (i would imagine). you are also able to work under your CA interim permit during the new grad residency (although they don't recommend it - as you would be studying for nclex and going through the new grad program at the same time - which would be very stressful!)

woodsider- sorry, didn't interview for green or medical acute... but if there's a question or concern maybe one of us will be able to help out? also, i know there were a couple people that interviewed for Scripps who had also interviewed at Cedars for the 03/28 cohort... would you be able to PM me? i have a question! thanks so much :)

perpetuallyhappyRN - we are referring to the spring program. applications were open around the 3rd week of February and the program is slated to begin around April 18th-- so it appears that they hold 2 new grad residency programs per year. I'll send you a PM with the talent manager's email - i don't think we're permitted to post contact info on allnurses :) good luck!

I believe she said by the end of next week - so next friday :)
