UCLA New Grad RN SUMMER 2011

Summer hopefuls talk here.... good luck to us all!!! :nurse: :redbeathe

Hey 'malapata',

I want to tell you not to worry. You never know what is really going on with the applications and how they're sorting them. I can understand your frustration ... And the thing that doesn't help is the fact that people on here either:

1-claiming to know how the selection process works or

2- they come to gloat that they've received a Talent Plus interview.

I want this forum to be helpful to others not stress them out.

So if you're going to write a post, I think it should be informative. For example

"I got my talent plus interview today, I applied on the second day, my last name starts with W and I applied for ICU and ER"

This way we can see if there is a pattern, if its alphabetical or by application time or by positions applied for.

For those of you who read this and feel the sudden urge to write "I called so and so and she said if you didn't apply on the first day then don't expect anything." DON'T BOTHER... That is not useful.

However to the person "bogataRN" who claims he/she called HR and know the selection process-- why did you come online to post that if you weren't going to inform anyone what it is. So basically you came to gloat... ppl on the this forum and stressed out and are looking for ANSWERS!

Please be kind and don't add to the frustration. If you're going to continue posting on the forum please be informative... because that is what allnurses.com is about.

P.s.

Congrats to those with Talent Plus Interviews... you're a step closer! :yeah:

I'm a little bummed because I applied in the first hour or so of the first day the application was open and never received an email or Talent Plus interview. I wonder if this means I won't hear from them...

Congratulations to all of those who have had an interview with Talent Plus already! Must feel relieving! I have mine coming up and was wondering if any one who has already had their interview had any advice or suggestions for the interview! Don't really know what to expect (like if there is a lot of tell me a time when questions), really different questions like the ones that were on the assessment after the application, or if they are basic interview questions.

For those who are still waiting to hear something, just remember to keep faith and everything will work out eventually! :redpinkhe

Just be honest during your TalentPlus interview and you will be fine. Good luck, everybody!

I applied on the first day within the 1st hour and received a rejection email about a week ago. I have my RN license, but I don't have a BSN.

Does everyone that received an interview have their BSN?

Good luck to everyone that is still waiting :)

Great question! I have my BSN but have not received a Talent plus or rejection letter.

Also I want to thank you for your post.

My friend and I were doing our application simultaneously and hit the submit button within moments of each other. We applied within the first hour of the application. We have a BSN and applied to the step down med-surg, oncology and one of us applied to cardiothoracic and the other to liver transplant. We both received the email about the talent plus email last Monday or Tuesday. I didn't get the phone call to schedule my talent plus until last Thursday (March 17) and that was the day that she did her Talent plus interview. My interview is scheduled for Tuesday (March 22) which was the soonest available day offered to me. Her last name begins with "H" and mine with "W". She and I both have Med Surg preceptorships mine with a subspecialty in nephrology and hers in ortho. I hope this helps.

Congrats to all who have received and/or completed their Talent Plus interviews! :D

Has anyone noticed a change in application status?

Hey guys,

Just spoke to the Head of HR Department and told her that I would like to know how the selection process works since so many ppl are saying different things.... and she explained how it works.

They will actually go through each application no matter what... Your will get looked at.

If your application meets their criteria then you get a Talent Plus interview

If not-- you get a rejection email.

If you haven't recieved a rejection email or Talent plus interview... its b/c they didn't look at your application yet.

If you pass your Talent Plus you get an interview.

Just because you didn't apply on the first day does not mean you don't stand a chance... its about how qualified you are!

Good Luck to everyone!

I have completed my Talent Plus interview and I haven't seen a change in my application status. My application status still says "We have contacted you for an interview." The person on the phone did say, however, that it would take about 2-3 days to process my results.

My status hasn't changed since my TalentPlus interview either. I felt like I did well on my TalentPlus interview, but my interview only lasted 40 minutes, and the person that interviewed me cut me off A LOT and flew through questions without letting me respond more than a 'yes' or 'no' pretty often. I hope I lived up to UCLA standards despite that, I feel like I did well......

I can't wait until we start to hear back for in-person interviews! :)

hey guys!

does anyone know when we will hear back from UCLA after the talent plus interview?

I applied within the first hour of the first day; I am a BSN holder, & was licensed at the time of the application. I received my talent plus e-mail the first day at about 5:30pm. My last name starts with an E. I completed my Talent plus on the 10th, but my status still states "we have contacted you for an interview," updated on 03/14/11.

I hope this helps, I have no idea if there is some sort of pattern going on here to be honest. I wish the best to all that applied! I know were all on the new grad hunt & it can be overwhelming & at times discouraging - but perseverance is key! We'll ALL find work.. it's just a matter of when :)
