Summer hopefuls talk here.... good luck to us all!!! :redbeathe
So it seems that no matter what education you have or how fast do you applied the selection seems to be totally random. How it is possible that someone with an MSN don't stand a better chance?
I don't know….. i am feeling pretty discourage…. finding the first job it's going to take more than i anticipated….
Are any of you applying for a second time? I applied last Oct, but did not make the cut after doing the Talent Plus interview (altho I thought I did alright on it). Because they still have my file, I did not have to repeat the Talent Plus interview or have my references re-do the Skills Survey. My status shows that I will be contacted for an interview, and HR told me that I should get a phone call within the next few days.FYI, I applied in the first hour of the job posting and have an MSN (clinical nurse leader) and my license. No experience in nursing apart from my clinicals (none at UCLA). I'm super excited to hopefully interview this time! But kinda surprised that what wasn't apparently good enough last time will take me on to interviewing this time. My choice of units didn't really change.
I'm in the same situation (except I have a BSN). I haven't gotten a call for the TalentPlus interview yet; they only sent me the dates, which are all sometime in April, so I haven't gotten a call yet to schedule it. The first time around, I only got as far as the TalentPlus interview.
conure and sharon, that is very interesting that you got through TalentPlus last time, don't have to repeat it this time, and it sounds like are now anticipating interviews! I'm trying to figure out the logic, what happened last time and what makes you more eligible this time. Very interesting....
Good luck, everybody! Hope to meet you all on the first day of orientation!
i think my mistake last time was not following up. but at the same time, i feel like if i follow up, i jinx it and don't get offered an interview/position. so this time, before applying, i asked the nursing office about following up and they said if you don't hear anything after a month of getting your TalentPlus interview done, then call the nursing office and check the status.
i have a feeling i won't make the cut this time, because the website said you should have graduated within 12 months of starting the job. i graduated in May 2010, so that would be a couple of months too late.

The dates in April are for the HR & nurse manager interviews. They told me that they do not allow repeats of the TalentPlus phone interview (for obvious reasons!). Does your status also say that you have been scheduled for an interview?
I applied the first day within the first hour, I have a BSN, my last name begins with D. I didn't get my talent plus interview email until 3/17, and my talent plus phone interview is tomorrow.
I just hope this process speeds up, because I already have a job here in rochester lined up starting in June. I told them i may be moving, and they said to accept the job anyway. I want to push back my start date.
if anyone knows what rochester ny is like you definetly wouldnt want to work here. the snow, the rain, the slush, so gloomy its march and still snowing.
UCLA is my dream job! i feel like if i dont reach for it now ill just get comfortable here and never move.

I was reading through old UCLA threads (again) last night, and it looked like everybody got called for an in-person interview about a month after TalentPlus, and your statement basically confirms that. I feel the same way you do about jinxing your chance by following up, so thanks so much for the information. :)
I wouldn't give up hope for this cohort even though you graduated in May '10. They obviously know your graduation date and wouldn't waste your (or their) time for an interview if they weren't considering giving you a chance, right?
I am hoping my grad date won't be much of an issue; it is 2 months beyond the start date. I got in touch with a current employee who currently works there (a friend of a family friend), and she had started out as a new grad, and has worked in MICU ever since. Another colleague of mine whom I graduated with also works there.
Has anyone landed a position in the OR? I'd like to know what the interview process was like, so I know what to expect IF i do get a call.
I just finished my talent plus interview and I felt like a babbling idiot! I'm not going to stress if I get and interview... good, if I don't then God has something better planned for me. Anywayz, anyone who is stressing about your references I called the nurse recruiter and they said only 3 out of the 5 that you gave need to fill out the survey before they can process it. So you don't need all 5!
