UCLA New Grad Residency Winter 2017

I'll be interviewing for OR tomorrow as well. did they say that there's a second round, how many new grads they're taking? were the interviewers intimidating or they were very professional and nice?

Has anyone else interviewed with Cardiothoracic ICU and heard about a 2nd interview? I have only been contacted about references.

Hi @CAnewgrad2016, tomorrow? I thought all the interviews for OR were today! Anyways, no second interview =) the interview was intimidating to me but that's just me. I interviewed with a panel of 6 people but my friend who interviewed later in the day only interviewed with 4. They were very nice and pleasant! I didn't ask how many positions were open...

Hey "NurseMJ80." Yes the interview was quick and no they did not ask those questions. And I submitted my references last week however have yet to hear from them. I doubt they have really gotten a chance to look at my application yet though due to the holiday.

Thanks for your response and thanks for letting me know that they weren't sure about having second interviews! I totally meant to ask about that but it slipped my mind. I was quite nervous as other units have been having second interviews and I've heard that they've done so for previous cohorts, but it seems like they aren't doing so now. I wasn't able to get anymore info from the interview other than what was on that paper in the folder they gave us :/

Had my interview with OR yesterday, still reeling from it. Was a little nervous going into a panel of 6, though I didn't take a tour after maybe cause it's hard in the OR. Was told the same that we would hear by December 12 if they accept us into the program. Just praying now and sending good vibes to everyone hope everyone's interviews are going well ! No news though on the reference check. For those who had reference checks how long till you received that email ?

I interviewed for the OR as well!

There was no mention of reference checks and I think I remember reading that only some units will request them. Perhaps the OR doesn't ask for them?

Did anyone ask how many people they were hiring and interviewing? It slipped my mind.

I got the reference email the following Monday after the interview. It is true that not all units do a reference check.

Hey congrats to all who got interviews with UCLA :)

I have a friend that is currently in the OR new grad program that started in October - she never had reference checks done so it is possible that the OR unit might not check this time around. In addition, she said there was 4 last rotation that were hired so competition seems fierce!
