UCLA New Grad Residency Winter 2017
Hi J Friday! Congrats on your interview! It sounds like it went great! I was invited for unit tour immediately after my interview as well but I didn't do a livescan. I go to school out of state but I'm from Californa so maybe that had something to do with it? I haven't heard anything back yet but I think they were waiting to contact people until after doing all the interviews for the unit. I heard that they aren't doing 2nd interviews for NTICU and the director told me we will hear something back towards the end of December. And they told me that the program is 2 12 hour shifts on the unit and 2 class days per week. Good luck to you!

New grad: move out of state or should i stay?
Unfortunately, California is rough for new nurses. In my experience, most hospitals want at least 1-2 years of experience for new hires, even for Med-Surg. I've been going to RN Residency route so far and I'm hoping something works out but it's tough out here. I'd say that if you love ICU and the hospital in Florida has better benefits and is a better fit for you, overall, go with that one. You can always come back to California after getting experience and it'll be much easier to find a job. Best of luck to you!

Hey donolo! I thought the interview went pretty well but you never really know with these things. The interview was short but everyone I interviewed with was very nice and I was invited for a unit tour immediately after, which I hope is a good sign. And the unit director said we wouldn't start receiving offers until the end of next month so, unfortunately, that means another long waiting game . But, yes, let me know how your interview goes! I wish you and anyone else interviewing the very best! P.S. For anyone who interviewed for Neuro/Trauma ICU, do you know if they do 2nd interviews? It completely slipped my mind to ask.

Hi All! I hope everyone's interviews are going well! How have they been so far? I'd love to hear about it for those who have interviewed already. I had mine for Neuro/Trauma ICU yesterday and it was the quickest 20 minutes of my life! And for those who haven't interviewed yet, we are all sending you good vibes!

USC Keck March 2017
Hi donolo! Thanks for starting this thread! Hopefully, we hear something back soon. A friend of mine received a rejection email from Keck about a week ago so if you haven't heard anything back yet, then you're probably still in the running. Good luck to everyone!

Hey farmraised! Depending on the time of day, it could take up to an hour to get from LAX to the Wilshire Center. It will probably only take 30-45 minutes but you never really know with LA traffic so it's better to be safe than sorry in this situation. Hope that helps and congrats on your interview!

UCLA New Grad Residency Winter 2017
This is my first time applying to UCLA too and I'm looking at a few other programs in the LA area and the Bay Area. I'm originally from San Francisco but I'm going to school right now in Washington State and I'll be graduating in December. I'm so excited to finally start applying to all these programs! They are all such great opportunities so, hopefully, it works out for all of us!

Just from browsing through past cohort forums, the status on the application will change to "routed to interview supervisor" first. Then they will email us letting us know if we got selected for an interview and send us a sign-up sheet for interview times that's first-come-first-serve. I don't think there's an essay portion but I know that they want you to bring your unofficial transcript to the interview.
