Hey, I am currently getting ready to apply to the UCLA MECN program. I went to UCLA yesterday to meet with the nursing advisor and since I have 2 C's, one in psych and one in Stats, she advised me to repeat one of them because I can't have more than one C on my transcripts. I plan on taking Micro this fall. In terms of work experience, I work with an agency facilitating care for end of life patients. I really want to get into the UCLA program but I will also be applying to CSULA, CSUN, CSUCI, CSUSM and USF, Western and
Anyway, I just wanted to create a thread for those applying same time as I so we can discuss. Fyi I will be attending the info session on July 26!
I really want to specialize though so I'm kind of bummed that the MECN doesn't offer a specialty, I would have to do a post-masters program.
How many classes can you have in progress when applying?
If a class is repeated, do they average the two or disregard the lower grade totally?
How much is the program in total?
Do MECN graduates make more in terms of salary than BSNs?

More information will start next week most likely... for those on the wait list....it seems in times past after the those who have been admitted have the chance to accept or decline then they start accepting people from the wait list. The rides not over yet
It seems that they usually accept people in waves, but I am assuming they have sent out all their acceptances already? Maybe they are just waiting for people to confirm their spot or not.
Hello Everyone,I also applied to MECN and I received my rejection letter in the mail today. I would like to take the opportunity to provide support and encouragement. For those of you applying for the first time, do not let this hold you back from your dreams! There is always next year. We will all end up in an institution where we belong. Stay hopeful and keep fighting to be the amazing nurses ya'll will be. :)
I wish you the best with your studies! I am sure any university will be fortunate to have you as their student.
Hey all! I haven't written much on this thread but I've been following for a while. Anyhow, I just wrote RF to let her know that I am planning to enroll. I am so excited. I also just sent a request to join the FB page. Thanks whoever set this up. Looking forward to getting to know you all.
And for those who didn't make the cut this year...I'm a big believer that all things happen for a reason. The wonderful thing about the nursing field is that there are so many different avenues in, and so many different destinations. This program may not be the right avenue or maybe this is not the year....but keep working hard and you'll find your way.
Hey everyone! I'm a bit late to the allnurses party as well (long time follower though). I was notified of acceptance to the program on 2/15, and I'm planning to enroll. I've requested to join the FB group too :) I am beyond excited to begin this new chapter and to meet my fellow prospective classmates.
And to those who did not get accepted, I second @doularn's post. It's the worst hearing bad news. Give yourself time to be bummed out but don't linger on it for too long. Don't give up hope! Search for areas to improve & for opportunities to gain new experiences. Stay positive and stay focused!
Hi all, I just found this thread while I was trying to calm my acceptance/rejection anxiety. I don't know if it's helped or not 😬
Those accepted - what is the email address you received the acceptance from?
I currently have the "You should soon.." status. I know what that might mean... But I'm holding out hope that maybe I missed an email.
Congrats to everyone accepted so far! And to all of those in limbo with me - sending you nursing vibes!

you should email RF at the admissions office. As far as I know everyone accepted who joined the fb group heard on 2/15 and we all got our official letters on the portal last week

They said not to email them until the end of March. I want to be respectful of that, but I'm also all up in my head! So I'm doing my own detective work.
How many are in the FB group?
