UCLA MECN 2017

Published

Hey, I am currently getting ready to apply to the UCLA MECN program. I went to UCLA yesterday to meet with the nursing advisor and since I have 2 C's, one in psych and one in Stats, she advised me to repeat one of them because I can't have more than one C on my transcripts. I plan on taking Micro this fall. In terms of work experience, I work with an agency facilitating care for end of life patients. I really want to get into the UCLA program but I will also be applying to CSULA, CSUN, CSUCI, CSUSM and USF, Western and

Anyway, I just wanted to create a thread for those applying same time as I so we can discuss. Fyi I will be attending the info session on July 26!

I really want to specialize though so I'm kind of bummed that the MECN doesn't offer a specialty, I would have to do a post-masters program.

How many classes can you have in progress when applying?

If a class is repeated, do they average the two or disregard the lower grade totally?

How much is the program in total?

Do MECN graduates make more in terms of salary than BSNs?

STAFF UPDATE

I know 2 people personally who have been accepted to the 2019 MECN cohort who are turning it down. I would imagine that soon they will accept a whole bunch of people off the waitlist. And for those of you who haven't heard anything yet, depending on how many people aren't accepting a spot in the cohort, you'll either get waitlisted or rejected at that point. Good luck everyone!

Thanks so much for the update. I saw your previous post and that you were accepted. Congrats! :) Did admissions give you guys a deadline when to put down your intent to enroll/SIR?

From last years forum, it seems that people who were higher on the waitlist heard back around this time if not earlier. Also, it seems that those who were #16-25 usually heard back May and all the way till August..

How much is the tuition at USD?

it's quite scary!!! Everything for the 1st year(including accommodation and the rest is 86k). Lol

Hey yall!

So I was told 2 weeks ago I was #11 on the waitlist and I just got my acceptance letter today! I am mostly likely going somewhere else but haven't declined yet for financial reasons. I have to give my final decision by this Thursday 3/9. I hope this gives some other waitlisted people hope :)

Wow!!! Congrats!! So I have hopes then. I'm #17. Did your acceptance letter come by email or postal mail?

Man that is a hefty amount, but I guess its the price to pay to become a nurse? :)

@ximenurse

Wow, congrats on your acceptance! I wonder when it would be appropriate to email admissions about an updated ranking number..

@amzytubies It was an email from Rhonda again

Ohh thank you. Wow, I didn't know they will be that fast

Yeah, I think it is because of the initial wave of applicants who gave up their spot. It will probably slow down after all seats are filled, but since you are #17.. I don't think you have to wait too long. :)

Does anyone know what # on the wait list they have gotten to?:nailbiting:

From this thread, it looks like they are at number #11, but it could be further down? Someone mentioned that last year #28 on the waitlist was accepted around August, so hopefully you aren't too far down. @FutureNurse_67
