UCLA MECN 2017

Published

Hey, I am currently getting ready to apply to the UCLA MECN program. I went to UCLA yesterday to meet with the nursing advisor and since I have 2 C's, one in psych and one in Stats, she advised me to repeat one of them because I can't have more than one C on my transcripts. I plan on taking Micro this fall. In terms of work experience, I work with an agency facilitating care for end of life patients. I really want to get into the UCLA program but I will also be applying to CSULA, CSUN, CSUCI, CSUSM and USF, Western and

Anyway, I just wanted to create a thread for those applying same time as I so we can discuss. Fyi I will be attending the info session on July 26!

I really want to specialize though so I'm kind of bummed that the MECN doesn't offer a specialty, I would have to do a post-masters program.

How many classes can you have in progress when applying?

If a class is repeated, do they average the two or disregard the lower grade totally?

How much is the program in total?

Do MECN graduates make more in terms of salary than BSNs?

STAFF UPDATE

Tell us about UCLA by visiting University of California (UCLA) School of Nursing | Peer Reviews.

Does anyone know what's going on with the waitlist? It seems like the acceptances/waitlist slowed by since last week.

I was planning to email RF or admissions, but for the email she sent, it states to not email or call for an update. So.. I wasn't sure!

Other applicants on this thread have emailed about an update on their number and received a response though.

Pls who else on the waitlist have heard from them? Who knows what number they are on the waitlist?

@amzytubies did you get off the waitlist?!

naaaa..still hoping I will:)

I was #14 on the waitlist, I am now #3. RF was out of the office 3/13-3/20. Hoping for some good news soon. :nailbiting:

Good luck! I don't think you will have to wait more than a couple of weeks before a spot opens up.

Although, it looks like the waitlist hasn't moved for a while, but it might be because other applicants are deciding between diff. nursing schools.

Someone mentioned about the waves of acceptances in the early post awhile back. Does anyone know what's going with that or they are done with notifying everyone?

I still haven't heard anything at all! So confusing. Waiting for the waves. Is there anyone else who hasn't heard anything? Why wouldn't I have gotten a rejection letter if they are pulling people off the wait list? I just don't get it.

Oh man really? I feel like you should have received a decision by now. Does your UCLA Graduate Application Status state anything or does it still say "No decisions have been made..."?

I would contact admissions to at least receive an update.

I asked today. My status just says: [TABLE=width: 920]

[TD]You should soon be receiving a response directly from your major program regarding a decision on your application.

if you look at previous years threads it seems that a few people always fall through the cracks...they email RF and she tells them their decision status

Mustered up the courage to ask RF about my ranking and it looks like they are at #13 now!

If they are on 13 and I am #12, that means they are skipping around. I don't understand lol.

Unless they are going off the original ranking, then I am #23 from the very first notification.
