UCLA MECN 2016

Published

Hey there, I am planning on applying to the UCLA MECN 2016 program and was wondering if anyone else out there was applying as well. Just curious about other applicants and hoping to go through this application process with some other people! Would love any feedback. Thanks :)

@mizfitrichard thanks for the kind words! It all works out for a reason, right? Although, I will be super jealous of everyone accepted when it's snowing in February in NY, and you're all studying at the beach ;).

As for the people notified about the waitlist, were you given a specific number or is it just random?

@anklowss I haven't received anything at all either.

Hopefully we hear something soon!! This wait is brutal...although, I am thankful decisions are going out earlier than I expected.

The waitlist is ranked. I wasn't given my position on the list at this point in time. It seems that decisions are coming in a series of small waves. There was the initial wave of acceptance letters on the 10th, then the 11th and 12th. This might be the first wave of waitlist emails. There's the comment from @anklowss saying they have yet to hear either way (anklowss you are still in the game). So, there's that.

Good luck to everyone on this thread. I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you.

Side note, I am grateful for the communal information. It's given me a little sanity and peace of mind while in the throes of the unknown.

@PeaceWalker weren't you accepted to Western? :)

Indeed, I was! UCLA is much more convenient for me as an LA county resident, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Although it would've been easier to plan for school for UCLA, I'm still happy with Western. :)

@anklowss I wasn't given a specific number, but they did say they will be accepting applicants from this list by rank as space becomes available. So we know we are ranked, but they didn't give me any specific info as far as where I stand in the ranks, at least not yet. The email also says the admission committee has completed the review process, so it's just a matter of time now. I'm sure we will all hear more soon.

Hello, everyone!

I just wanted to congratulate all of you who were admitted and let those who were waitlisted know that I just relinquished my spot on the waitlist (I found out this morning that I was waitlisted) since I am starting UCSF in June!!! I wish all of you the very best and hope to cross paths with you as future colleagues. For those who didn't get in, just remember it's one application cycle. There is a school for everyone out there.

I emailed Rhonda and asked what position I was on the wait list and she told me. She also said 17 alternates were offered admissions last year.

UCSF is actually a better ranked nursing program then UCLA. If you look up the ranks i think UCSF is number one and UCLA is number 5. So on that note CONGRATS!

I also haven't heard anything yet this year. Very different from last years rollout of information. Good luck everyone!

If you dont mind me asking, what was the rank you were given?
