UCLA MECN Fall 2011

Hello,

I saw that the MECN application for UCLA has been posted today. Is anyone applying to the Fall 2011 program?? I haven't found a thread going on yet...Maybe we can share our questions/concerns regarding the application process here.

My mail just came, and I couldn't believe what I saw. I got accepted!!! Good luck to all of you who still haven't heard yet;)

A question for those who have been accepted: Do you have a math/science background (i.e. BS degree) and healthcare experience such as being a CNA or volunteering at a hospital?

I'm trying to figure out how I can improve my application the next go-around!

I got rejected & I have 3 yrs of FT paid direct-patient contact in ER, over 200+ hours volunteering in the OR and im currently interning in a Cardiac Cath lab. I have a cum 3.2 with great references..... I honestly don't know how I could improve my app goes to show how we have no idea what they are looking for each cycle Maybe we'll be lucky next term !

I am home from work but the mailman has not arrived yet! Just my luck!! Is there any way to track where the mailman is?? I would like to stalk him right about now. Seriously sitting by the door just waiting. Congrats to all who got in. I heard they took almost 20 from the waitlist last year.

I am not sure exactly what they are looking for. Like you, I have 3.5 years working in maternal child health in 43 hospitals in SoCal, 3 years volunteering as a child oncology counselor, a Master's Degree in Epidemology for UCLA with a 3.5 GPA. So I am also a little not sure. I am waitlisted but I am at number 12 so that isn't even a guarantee. My letters of rec were all from Nurse Managers whom I work closely with so I know that they were good as well. Oh, well. I am happy for everyone that got in and I know everything happens for a reason. Even if I do have to go drown my disappointment in Chardonnay on a Monday night. :)
