UCLA MECN Fall 2011

I saw that the MECN application for UCLA has been posted today. Is anyone applying to the Fall 2011 program?? I haven't found a thread going on yet...Maybe we can share our questions/concerns regarding the application process here.

Are you guys taking the Epi class during the summer?

Well I don't know if I'm accepted yet.......but if I were then yes I would be taking it in the summer. Does it say when in the summer it starts?

oops..i just noticed. Well I know that you will be getting a good news today~

and yea it will be during the Summer Session A between June 20 and July 28. The course meets Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30am to 10:50am. The cost will be roughly $1,298....better start saving up some money and apply for scholarships;;

Congratulations, goguemah & mikoway! I hope I have good news waiting for me at home, too. I just found out that I'm definitely out from USD (I didn't even make it to the waitlist).

Out of curiosity, can you tell us what your application profile was like? (i.e. gpa, work/volunteer exp., personal statement). Also, did either of you have any in progress courses?

Goguemah, I will be taking Nursing 50 (Epi) this summer!! How about you? Where are you located? I live in Downtown so it will be an interesting bus commute but I am beyond ecstatic!! I looked at last year's Fall class schedule and it looks like we will have class Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri and have Wed off.

Good luck to those we are waiting for their mail!! I am almost certain you all got in too :)

Lisa, I can't wait to get home from work either! Congrats to those officially in the know about their acceptances, be they from UCLA or elsewhere!! If all of us haven't-heard-yets got in, that's a crazy chunk of the class of 60 that gravitated to allnurses... :D And has anyone heard of any waitlisted folks?

Really proud of everyone- especially the re applicants. I admire your persistence and perseverance!

I hope to find out around 2pm PST. Going to try and finish 5 hours of errands between now and then so I dont watch the mailbox like a hawk!

Looks like I'll be seeing you during Summer A session cuz I'm also taking Epi this summer! I live in Tujunga, which is a little north of Glendale. Probably I will be driving from home since I don't want extra loans for housing. Its like 40 min drive to UCLA and you know how the parking is like at UCLA..... I'll have to be crazy disciplined and diligent during the MECN program!

Glad we are taking the class together at UCLA! that will help us to warm up our brain before the program starts~

Congrats mikomay and goguemah, so excited for you!! It will be a long day of waiting for me, I have classes all the way up to 10pm, grrr. I am not going to be able to concentrate. Everybody else, please keep us posted for your mail today:))

Went to UCSD. B.S. Human Biology. GPA 3.25

1 year of personal caregiver

1 year of Certified Nursing Assistant at nursing home

About a half year of being Research Coordinator at Childrens Hospital LA. (This was volunteering.. like 16 hrs a week haha)

About a year now of Patient Care Service Aide at Childrens Hospital.

I took some prereq classes from community colleges, and I still have to take the Epi class during the summer.

I was worried about UCLA because my GPA was low and I couldn't appeal myself because there was no interview...

But boy am I relieved now! =)
