  1. RN at CS for 4 years. Current pay: $50/hr, $7 night shift dif, $2 weekend dif. I recommend exploring unionized hospitals first.
  2. Lol @lisapett42 you are scaring all the potential MECNs away! I am a first-year as well – the workload is tough but totally manageable. I still have time to relax and do fun things. It just depends on your study style and coping mechanisms for stress. Good luck everyone! Just 6 more weeks til decisions come out!
  3. Congrats everyone! I forget, is it 50 or 60 students in the MECN class? For those who will be joining the class of '13, I made a Facebook fan page so we can all mingle and get to know one another!! http://www.facebook.com/pages/UCLA-MECN-2013/196744943689172
  4. Congrats lisapett42!!! I'm always in Santa Monica, taking prerequisites at SMC. Will you be taking Epi this summer? I just created a Facebook page for our class to mingle and get to know each other more. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/pages/UCLA-MECN-2013/196744943689172 Please "Like" the page and add me as a friend. I am so excited to meet everyone
  5. Hello! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone! I will be taking Nursing 50 in the summer. Although it is pricey, I feel like it will be a great opportunity to get to know our classmates, faculty and staff before the program officially begins. I live in Downtown and I will be taking public transportation to UCLA. I did it last summer when I took Micro at UCLA and it wasn't bad at all. Anything is better than sitting in traffic and wasting time driving around for parking. Where do you guys live?
  6. lilpeapods sorry for late reply to your PM. for some odd reason i'm not permitted to send PMs! frustrating! message me your email address
  7. Lilpeapods, I saw your posts in the MECN forum. Don't be discouraged and keep gaining healthcare experience! Going for a CNA license is a great way of getting patient contact and an easy door into working in healthcare. I live in LA and just finished the CNA training through the Red Cross in Commerce in January. My instructor (May) actually teaches at Canoga Park and was just substituting for my class. Let me tell you, the training was great! I learned so much during clinicals and May really prepared me for the state boards. The price is hefty but there is actually a government grant through WorkSource that pays for the entire $1500! Message me and I can send you all the details
  8. Congrats Nadianana!!! Looking forward to meeting you :)
  9. JulsieQ congrats! I recall from the info session that on average they accept ~10 from the waitlist. Best of luck!
  10. Goguemah, I will be taking Nursing 50 (Epi) this summer!! How about you? Where are you located? I live in Downtown so it will be an interesting bus commute but I am beyond ecstatic!! I looked at last year's Fall class schedule and it looks like we will have class Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri and have Wed off. Good luck to those we are waiting for their mail!! I am almost certain you all got in too :)
  11. CONGRATULATIONS goguemah!! I got in too!!!! YAYYY!!! Looking forward to meeting you and the rest of the class
  12. On this board, it seems like there are just as many of us that have not heard as there are ones who have been denied already. Could we (who are still waiting) really all be accepted/wait-listed? Seems like there are too many of us for that. Don't want to get my hopes up but I'm just trying to make sense of it all. :heartbeat
  13. Well said! That is so exciting! Congrats on Columbia and JH!!!!!
  14. But time is money too. MSMC's accelerated BSN is only one year. Think about the $ you'd save from one year less of room/board and one more year of experience and income. Just a thought :)
  15. Thank you for checking! It's torture that our decisions are not posted online but sent via snail mail. More waiting....
