  1. sorry I didn't respond sooner to your inquiry about the accelerated prog - as a current student I can say that it is extremely busy! So honest reaction to your post #1 your post isn't trivial, it is so important to maintain a sense of normalcy!! With that said, having a balance in life is not something that is a reality (at least not for me) while in the program, all of your energy is dedicated to school and that is the most important thing for these 12 months (or 8 months now!). I think most all accelerated programs are set up this way. I was also worried about it, as I have a husband and a life...but life is just different now and you can always spot the light at the end of the tunnel so I think it is totally worth it. The experience and the knowledge we're gaining is really good and I wouldn't drag it out any other way. I think that by the time you're ready to start you'll have wrapped your mind around it and really be ready to jump in and roll with it! You can do it :) lemme know if you have other questions. It goes by fast! Apply!
  2. Hey! Congrats on finishing up in a few weeks!! Are you still alive with your soul intact? Seriously - I'd love to know...have you started your job search? Do you think it'll be easy to find something once you graduate? Do you feel you made valuable connections at your clinical sites? I'm excited to put this behind me, very happy for you that you're finishing now!!
  3. this whole process has been so bazaar. I called admissions asking what is going on because I haven't gotten any news yet. They said the issue is that they're waiting on NursingCAS and it's been very frustrating. I also mentioned some of the information that I've gotten from this site and they that the information is incorrect, that not all letters of any nature have been sent out and they are informing students one at a time as soon as they hear from NursingCAS regarding admissions. So keep your heads up, they seem to be just as frustrated as we are about having people waiting like this....
  4. Only a few weeks before orientation!! I will probably move back to CT in mid-may. I am staying in California as long as I can since my husband is here and I already know my way around CT. Getting excited to get started?
  5. ocennia - what # on the list are you? My heart goes out to all my waitlist buddies...UGH! Do you guys have other schools lined up?
  6. hey all - I'm number 23 on the waiting list. Right on the cusp...Formulating plan B!! Congrats everyone who got in!!
  7. Did anyone out there get an acceptance?
  8. My last name is "zw"... still no letter for me on the website! EEK I'm sweating! oh dear.
  9. I wonder if they'll post on the grad website sooner?..... Although if it's bad news I'm not sure I want to find out from that website, what a let down that would be. I'm getting more and more nervous - I didn't think it was possible to be this uneasy!!!! I think the scariest thing is we don't know the competition we're up against or exactly what the admissions committee is looking for. OYE! good luck guys!
  10. AH! I am dying of the wait. either way I just want to know!!! at least we're all still in the same boat. Plus if Mark said decisions are made today - then that girl who said she received her letter a couple weeks ago had to have made it up. right?
  11. I think they're taking 60 students - and then they put people on a waiting list. In years past they rank the waiting list students out of 45 and around 20 or less get in off the waiting list, it just depends on the class.
  12. Hey all!! My name is Kelsey - I was also accepted to the ABSN program- great to see you all here :) It's so funny to hear a few of you saying the same thing, I searched and searched for some student perspectives on QU and couldn't find very much. I am also moving from CA - Los Angeles (excited to see other California people!!) but I grew up in CT so I'm familiar with the area etc. \ My undergrad was from UConn B.S. Nutrition and I had a 3.5 GPA - All prereqs completed here in LA with a 4.0. I volunteer at UCLA Medical Center and I am really attracted to QU because of the short duration. Also I have a lot of friends in healthcare in CT and they all have really good things to say about the ABSN program and the students that come out of QU. Many of my friends work with RNs who completed the program and they all say that the graduates are competent and get jobs. Oh, I've heard the QU facilities are insanely nice - if that matters :) Let's keep this discussion up
  13. Congrats on the interview Mxpower!! lets all keep eachother posted...didn't get an e-mail today either. Lets all keep our fingers crossed. :) Mxpower...is your last name at the beginning of the alphabet by chance?
  14. Hey all - rhardey......Did they contact you saying you had an interview, or did you call to ask when interviews would be conducted? Wondering if they're contacting people in alphabetical order, if so - I'm all the way at the end!! "zw" Getting nervous...
  15. Not sure exactly - basically they want your jr/sr year GPA. At least that is how it's worded on the application. I would say e-mail the question because your situation seems unclear.
