UCLA MECN Fall 2011

Published

Hello,

I saw that the MECN application for UCLA has been posted today. Is anyone applying to the Fall 2011 program?? I haven't found a thread going on yet...Maybe we can share our questions/concerns regarding the application process here.

I don't think the large envelope thing is true for all schools. I'm not sure about ucla though. At one school that I applied to admitted and rejected applicants all received a thin envelope with a single piece of paper. So don't get discouraged if some of your schools only send a thin one!

The application for UCLA was the exact same application as Duke. Duke sent out their admission decisions electronically only. I have a feeling that UCLA will probably do the same and not mail out anything. I could be wrong- but I agree with Sam198, the size of the envelope isn't a big deal- good things come in small packages :)

We only have about one more week of torture to go!!! Oh the sleepless nights continue... good luck to all of you guys!! I hope we all get in.

Hang in there.. the wait is almost over. I think we all received our acceptance notifications via email (not absolutely sure about rejections/waitlists) and that was in early March. But in general envelope size is not a reliable indicator so OPEN the envelope before you collapse into fetal position. For instance UCSF's initial offer to interview was small, thin envelope I remember. Anyway good luck everyone!

Haha thanks Sandman, that made me laugh (the fetal position comment). Is there any point in checking the "decision status" link on their website? I've been checking it obsessively but I think that it's not updated until later...

and i thought i was the only one checking the decision status on the grad website! i have a feeling they update it AFTER people are notified of their admission status. but that still doesn't stop me from logging in.

I'm a first year MECN student, and from what I remember last year, the decisions were emailed first, then mailed, and then the decision status was updated after that. Hang in there and good luck to everyone!

Yes, I also remember checking the decision status obsessively, and even after hearing that I will definitely hear by email before it is updated, I still checked it... theres no harm and its something to do I guess :)

omg i had no idea you can check your decision status online. where exactly is the link located?

here you go:

https://www.gradadmissions.ucla.edu/newapp/Login.asp?topage=AdmissionStatus.asp

but it won't be updated until after they send out acceptance/rejection emails and letters.

maybe we'll hear by next week??

thanks lilpeapods! i, too, am usually pretty obsessive about checking the online status for the applications i've submitted but had no idea that UCLA had one. yeah, i'm hoping for next week too! :)

I love how we all know it's useless to check it but we're doing it anyways. Haha! I have a feeling next week is the week! I'll probably be glued to my computer refreshing my email every 2 seconds.
