I am applying and have requested all my transcripts, I did decent on the Teas test with an 86. Undergrad gpa 3.45, pre req 4.0
I went to the info session last month it was a bit of a pain :angryfire to sit through just to get the application passcode because of all the redundant you should do some research if your serious questions lol.
I am excited and hope to get in to move forward with my life goals of community health nursing.
I am also applying to UNF's program too. Their website is really detailed with everything I ever wanted to know. One of the few schools that have their stuff together.
Hi everyone,
I am in the UCF accelerated program right now in the third semester and wouldn't mind answering any questions any of you have about the program. I know you all are really excited at this point as I was at this time last year. I received my acceptance letter by March 15. I had a 3.8 but no TEAS score because the TEAS was not required then. For those of you wondering about working it would be impossible the 1st and 2nd semester. It is possible 3rd semester but only if you do not have to take the elective. Let me know if I can answer any questions!
I emailed the nursing dept today and asked if they are still on track to email decisions on Monday (that is the date that they had originally listed on the ucf nursing site for when decision emails would go out). I got a response that things are "looking good for decisions to go out Monday". We shall see.
Here is a breakdown of the first 2 semesters for classes/clinicals:
First semester:
Monday: Health assessment 8-10:50, Essentials 1-3:50
Tuesday: Community Health Nursing 7:30-10:20, 2 labs - they go from 12-5:20 (this was a long day..)
*community health nursing is only for the first 6 weeks, then you don't have class anymore
Wednesday - Roles of the Pro Nurse 8-10:20 (done for the day until you have the long term care clinical, then you have to go pick up a patient assignment at some point during the day)
Thursday & Fridays for the first 6 weeks - Community clinicals range from 8-4pm
The second half is Long Term Care Clinical (my hrs for that were 6am-3pm)
*I think this by far was the toughest semester, there are tons of assignments and papers, you will be busy all of the time
Second semester
Monday: Adult 1 7:30-10:20, Pathophysiology 1:00-4:20
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: Families 7:30-10:20, Pharmacology 1:00-4:20
Rotations are Peds/OB for 6 weeks and Adult 1 for 6 weeks
Hours vary, my schedule was Peds/OB Thurdays and Fridays from 6:30-1:30
Adult 1 was 7am-7pm on Thurdays, again, schedules vary but it's the same amount of hours
*This was a difficult semester as well because you take 16 tests plus one paper
Hope this helps!
Hap13-
I was wondering what the textbook arrangement is? Some programs have you buy all the textbooks for the whole program up front in a package and with others you buy them by the semester? My mom's a nurse and she wants to buy me my first stethoscope if I get in but about how much can we expect to pay for textbooks, scrubs...essentials like that. Thanks so much for all the information in your last post. As you can see we are all dying in anticipation...but I'm sure you remember how we feel!

Hey everyone...I just wanted to let you all know that I called the nursing office again today to see if the Feb. 25th deadline for the decision letters still stood. The lady in the office informed me that they now "hope" to be e-mailing them by Friday. Sorry if I got everyones hopes up before, but they seemed to have changed their dates and this is the newest information.
