  1. Welcome to the thread! :) It is against allnurses terms and services to post links to facebook but you can search for "UCF accelerated bsn 2010-2011" and you should find it no problem. As for the books I think most people have bought their books on amazon saving a few hundred bucks.
  2. Check myUCF everyone because I was just able to register for classes!!!!! Your "MyAcademics" should say accelerated 2nd degree BSN now! yay! *jumps for joy* haha:yeah:
  3. I plan on ordering mine separately as well so I can pick a fun color, any bit of individuality I can get I will take! haha. But allnurses recently asked us not to use the names of anybody that works at UCF, it is against their terms of service. I love this site and it has been so helpful so we want to keep them happy :-)
  4. I was notified by allnurses that I am not allowed to post the link in accordance with the forum's terms and services but if you search for UCF Accelerated BSN 2010-2011 that is the exact group title.
  5. For those of you with facebook I decided to make a group so we would have another way to communicate and hopefully we can find more people in our class! I'd love to get as many of us to join as possible to better stay connected! See you all soon!
  6. I will be there! Are you attending the all day orientation or the shortened one? I will be there all day. It would be great to meet up with anyone attending. I will also be at the CPR class on April 3...figured I'd make a weekend out of it:)...anyone else? I can't believe how soon everything is happening, it seems like May is just around the corner and there's still so much left to be done! I just completed the background check today and was happy it wasn't too complicated, just a little time consuming, and they have a fingerprinting location in my town!
  7. That's an especially difficult situation because that child can't advocate for himself but at the same time the parents truly believe that they are doing what is right for their child. I am not a nurse yet, so I can't understand how it feels to actually be in that situation and I am not looking forward to the day I do understand. Personally, my step mother and step brothers are JW's and I have always had a hard time understanding their decisions but luckily my step mom is very open and respectful of others beliefs and we have respectfully "agreed to disagree" for years. :) However, I can't even imagine how saddened and confused that woman's mother and child are for their loss but hopefully they will come to peace one day just as their mother/daughter did when she came to peace with her decision. 8. What a great topic OP, I have wondered the exact same thing. I dearly love Grey's Anatomy...along with it's spin off private practice but always find it hilarious the amount of sex that goes on in the office and in the hospital in these shows. I actually just got into an accelerated nursing program that starts this summer...maybe I'll have some stories to add in the future through observation of course, not experience
  9. I also feel like I have hundreds of questions, hoping to receive more information sooner rather than later. Is anyone planning on attending the CPR class in April? I'm excited to meet people before the first day so that the first day won't be so stressful. KetuUCF- the nursing department will actually contact people on the wait list in their respective order in the case that someone decides last minute not to attend. UFProspect- transfer orientation dates are on UCF's website at http://fye.ucf.edu/?p=trans_o You should have also recently received a postcard in the mail with information about transfer orientation Healthnut123- don't give up hope just yet, I have a friend who just graduated from UCF's accelerated program this past summer and she was actually wait listed originally and got called a week or so before the program started. I don't know what the cut offs were this year but my overall gpa was a 3.6, pre-req was 4.0 and teas score was a 91
  10. I received something in the mail from UCF undergrad admissions that said I had to attend transfer orientation. As for the nursing school orientation I haven't heard anything about that date but I'm almost certain nursing classes follow UCF's regular semester schedule and summer begins May 17. I'm pretty sure our classes are summer C so they run from May 17 to August 6.
  11. I got in too!!! yay! see you all in may! ms.jazzo The reason why everyone was anxious is because the website stated the 1st of March.
  12. I can't believe now they're saying "within the next week". Obviously if it is going to take that long they should have known Monday when I called that there was no way they would be ready by Thursday which is the day they quoted me. That's a bit disappointing. ms.jazzo- Is buying a pda required? I had no idea. There is so much to plan for financially that I don't know about because I feel there's been so little information available.
  13. Hap13- I was wondering what the textbook arrangement is? Some programs have you buy all the textbooks for the whole program up front in a package and with others you buy them by the semester? My mom's a nurse and she wants to buy me my first stethoscope if I get in but about how much can we expect to pay for textbooks, scrubs...essentials like that. Thanks so much for all the information in your last post. As you can see we are all dying in anticipation...but I'm sure you remember how we feel!
  14. I definitely plan on calling tomorrow afternoon if I don't hear...just to ask for sure that they are going out. I know if I don't call it would drive me crazy all weekend! Hopefully well all get emails so no calls are necessary.
  15. I know bdiv87 said they moved the date back for decisions to hopefully tomorrow I just wanted to make sure no one heard. I didn't receive any emails today, just making sure I'm not the only one. Hopefully tomorrow will be the day!!!
