I am applying and have requested all my transcripts, I did decent on the Teas test with an 86. Undergrad gpa 3.45, pre req 4.0
I went to the info session last month it was a bit of a pain :angryfire to sit through just to get the application passcode because of all the redundant you should do some research if your serious questions lol.
I am excited and hope to get in to move forward with my life goals of community health nursing.
I am also applying to UNF's program too. Their website is really detailed with everything I ever wanted to know. One of the few schools that have their stuff together.
Ms. Jazzo,You should email that lady and ask what they want and if documented proof from your doctor will work.
I know why I was just gonna use the date for because if you look on the health form with all the dates you have to fill in, it actually says just write in the date of incidence without doing the titer test. I asked my doctor office who does not do it anyways so I will know how much it cost tomorrow. All in all I should not have to do it because of what it says on the health form plus I have documented proof of the disease. I guess a lot of people do not have that so they ask for the titer or vaccine. I pick up everything on Thursday. After that only the CPR and Health Insurance to go.

Good point! I have the date documented as well on my immunization form. At least your done with this, the whole process is just a little haha
I've uploaded all my requirements except for the health insurance (not sure where I'm getting it from) and CPR certification. But, everything is still "pending approval". Has anyone who has submitted their stuff received a positive confirmation from the school? Or is everyone still pending approval?
Just a quick question for everyone. Has anybody come across any nursing scholarships that are currently available? All the ones listed on the UCF Nursing Scholarship page are listed as not available at this time. If anybody has come across a scholarship that is currently accepting applications please let me, and the rest of us know.
Yah, a little more clarification. Where does it state we need the flu shot? Also, did you guys upload all 9 of the requirements we have posted? A lady told me that she thinks we just need to upload the CON Health Form along with proof of insurance and CPR certification.
UPDATE: That lady replied and told me that we need to have a titer done if we have had chickenpox. So its either an immunization or a titer. I know someone replied to me earlier saying they just uploaded a date, it seems like this won't work for them.
When you talk about uploading all 9 requirements, did you mean that you had a different form that documented each vaccination?? I am still confused about this one. I have all the dates filled in on the CON health form and also a signed document from my doctor with all the dates on it....you think I can just upload that form to all the 9 spaces?
Hi all,
To the those with questions about scholarships, I've found that many are not available to students in the accelerated track. In addition, many are not available until the fall semester. There are two that I'm aware of that are targeted specifically for accelerated nursing programs - the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing Scholarship (which is a federal program) and I also found something on google about Nirvana Health Services scholarship (which seems to be a local grant in the Orlando area). The problem with the RWJF scholarship is the deadline (early January) which doesn't exactly match up to our timelines for the program. Either way, it's out there and may be of benefit in the Spring/Summer semester next year.
In addition, financial aid for a second bachelor's degree is limited to stafford loans or private loans if you don't qualify for those. It's unfortunate that these programs don't receive more support - so best of luck to everyone in funding the program.
Hope to see some of you tomorrow at the transfer orientation! it's getting close!
Here is a breakdown of the first 2 semesters for classes/clinicals:First semester:
Monday: Health assessment 8-10:50, Essentials 1-3:50
Tuesday: Community Health Nursing 7:30-10:20, 2 labs - they go from 12-5:20 (this was a long day..)
*community health nursing is only for the first 6 weeks, then you don't have class anymore
Wednesday - Roles of the Pro Nurse 8-10:20 (done for the day until you have the long term care clinical, then you have to go pick up a patient assignment at some point during the day)
Thursday & Fridays for the first 6 weeks - Community clinicals range from 8-4pm
The second half is Long Term Care Clinical (my hrs for that were 6am-3pm)
*I think this by far was the toughest semester, there are tons of assignments and papers, you will be busy all of the time
Second semester
Monday: Adult 1 7:30-10:20, Pathophysiology 1:00-4:20
Tuesday: Off
Wednesday: Families 7:30-10:20, Pharmacology 1:00-4:20
Rotations are Peds/OB for 6 weeks and Adult 1 for 6 weeks
Hours vary, my schedule was Peds/OB Thurdays and Fridays from 6:30-1:30
Adult 1 was 7am-7pm on Thurdays, again, schedules vary but it's the same amount of hours
*This was a difficult semester as well because you take 16 tests plus one paper
Hope this helps!
I know this post is from many pages back, but I am just reading it now. I was trying to figure out when clinicals start. This post implies that "community clinicals" begin immediately. I am excited to begin clinicals ASAP, but I am still wondering if this is the "full" clinicals so to say. In other words, will we begin patient interaction immediately or is this "community clinicals" something else to get us introduced to things first. On the one hand, this is an accelerated program so I'm sure they will want us having clinical experiences ASAP. On the other hand, will they really throw us right into the hospital immediately or is there some simulation type practice beforehand? Like I said, I would love to just start patient care the first week (even if it is mostly observation), but I can see how it could go either way. Right now, my guess is that we will begin clinicals immediately, but it will probably be mostly observing an RN at first. Then we will gradually get to do more and more as our supervisor sees fit.
Also, does anyone know more about the specific clinical experiences? I am really interested about which areas of hospitals we will have rotations in as students. Is there any ICU or ER experience at some point? If anyone knows let us know!
Finally, who all is going to be at the CPR training this saturday?? Don't forget about it! I'll be there and I'm excited to meet people in the program for the first time. Right now, I feel like there is so much about the program that I still know very little about. It's as if May is going to be a big surprise of "Oh, THIS is what its gonna be like!" Anybody know what I'm saying?
Anyway, I've started to get really excited to get the ball rolling! Anybody else excited or maybe nervous about how soon its coming up??
