UCF 2010-2011 accelerated nursing program

Published

I am applying and have requested all my transcripts, I did decent on the Teas test with an 86. Undergrad gpa 3.45, pre req 4.0

I went to the info session last month it was a bit of a pain :angryfire to sit through just to get the application passcode because of all the redundant you should do some research if your serious questions lol.

I am excited and hope to get in to move forward with my life goals of community health nursing.

I am also applying to UNF's program too. Their website is really detailed with everything I ever wanted to know. One of the few schools that have their stuff together.

So just as a side question, does everyone have some sort of medical background? I was a phlebotomist for a very short period of time (3 months), and was on track to do a nursing program in Iowa, where I am from, before I moved to Florida. There we were required to be CNAs before we could start the program. Just curious as to everyone's background - also what undergrads everyone has. My undergrad was in Spanish/Italian so I had to do ALL the sciences to get in. Just curious to see how diverse we all are!

I am new to this site and have also been accepted into the program. I am going to the orientation on April 2nd and the CPR class on the 3rd. If anyone else is going to that I would like to know so I can start meeting my new classmates.

See everyone there on the 2nd.

Hi kd11085. Check the earlier posts and you'll see a link to a facebook page that one of our classmates created so that we can all keep in touch and get to know one another. Several of us will be at the orientation next Friday, but I haven't heard of any official plans to meet up. Hopefully we'll figure that out in the next few days...

Jschann - my undergrad is in forensic anthropology/pre-med and I have a master's degree in public health. So I have a strong science background but no clinical experience, and I'm very much looking forward to that. Not sure what everyone else's background is, but it will be interesting to see :)

Just wondering if any of you are planning on trying to get a job as a nurse tech or CNA after the first or second semester?

Anybody accepted live in Tampa?

There is a CPR class Saturday March 27 from 630-930 Country Inn Suites $40.00, 8109 Benjamin Rd Tampa, FL, 33634. I signed up. Boy oh boy why did I let the first one expire.

Just curious, for those of you who have already uploaded their health form to Magnus. Did you just upload the health form (including immunization page, physical exam page, and TB questionnaire page) or did you also include a copy of your shot records, and any other forms given to you from the hospital when you got your physical exam, and PPD test complete? Thanks for your help, I guess if I don't get a response I will wait till Monday to call the school and upload the information.

I will be uploading the health form next week. Yes, they need you immunization record. Print cover sheet, fax to them, wait for the email from them, log on account, follow instructions from there.

This uploading stuff is confusing. I know I cant be the only one who doesnt have a varicella vaccine because I had the chicken pox as a child, so what are you guys uploading instead of proof of the varicella?

Also, how did everyone go about getting the ppd done do you just go to a local clinic and ask for a ppd and physical exam? Im still in college so I dont have a family physician here. Thanks

^^UF prospect,

Just upload the date you had the illness. I have an old school form that is certified with the date I had chicken pox. That is all I uploaded. If you do not have anything get something stamped from the next doctor that you provide your medical records to.

I am getting the PPD, Tetorifice, and physical today from my family physican for $115 without insurance. I am just glad I will be a step closer with finishing all this stuff this week after today.

If you were to go the family physican route you would need to pay for the new paitent fee + whatever they charge for the stuff. The health dept offers the Tetorifice $50, but only the PPD if you have been exposed.

I just went to a walk up urgent care place to get my physical and TB test. The physical/test were only 30 bucks - I still need to get a flu shot/Tetorifice shot though. Make sure you don't put off the TB test for too long though, because they need you to return 48-72 hours after the test to make sure that it's negative.

Adult Tetorifice is pricey at the health dept or anywhere. Don't you have to pay a fee for the urgent care place on top of the physical and PPD test? I don't recall the flu shot being required and I am totally against getting it. I contacted the doctors walk in clinic in tampa and they were really pricey for that stuff. Urgent care for the physical was like $75, $30ppd and $42 for tetorifice.

Yah, a little more clarification. Where does it state we need the flu shot?

Also, did you guys upload all 9 of the requirements we have posted? Connie Washam told me that she thinks we just need to upload the CON Health Form along with proof of insurance and CPR certification.

UPDATE: Connie replied and told me that we need to have a titer done if we have had chickenpox. So its either an immunization or a titer. I know someone replied to me earlier saying they just uploaded a date, it seems like this won't work for them.
