I am applying and have requested all my transcripts, I did decent on the Teas test with an 86. Undergrad gpa 3.45, pre req 4.0
I went to the info session last month it was a bit of a pain :angryfire to sit through just to get the application passcode because of all the redundant you should do some research if your serious questions lol.
I am excited and hope to get in to move forward with my life goals of community health nursing.
I am also applying to UNF's program too. Their website is really detailed with everything I ever wanted to know. One of the few schools that have their stuff together.
Ms. Jazzo:Yes i'm sure you can...All I know is UF makes you take th GRE for the ABSN admission so that you're bascially already "accepted" into the program as long as your GPA remains above 3.0 or something like that...but yea i'm sure they do something similar
Its nice to have that GRE taken care of but if you do not want to go right away that window is ticking until you have to take it again.
Anybody getting the health insurance through UCF? I am looking at two alternatives right now. One saves me $774.40-no docs visits and another one saves $305-docs copay visit of $35 bucks. The problem I have with UCF is you really need to go to the campus clinic to take advantage of the benefits and the hours are limited. Anybody have an idea how busy they are usually? Going off campus gets only covers 60% of the docs bill and you are responsible for the rest? Is that right everyone?
I was thinking about getting the insurance too, but I am wondering if a limited benefits insurance would be sufficient? I used to use GoBlue Insurance when I first moved to Florida. It doesn't cover meds or anything like that, but I was suprised by how much it DOES cover, and it is only $50 for two months. You can tack on an additional $50/month (I believe) to have limited hospital benefits as well. I was planning on calling the College of Nursing tomorrow to see if this would be a possibility, as I would love to not have to pay a large monthly premium. Do you know if loans can be applied to the UCF insurance?
I am nervous too gatorkf! I have only been to the campus once for the information session. I will be commuting from Melbourne (anyone else?!?) so I am nervous about parking, traffic, etc... If anyone is planning on commuting like me - let me know and if our schedules match up, perhaps we could carpool. I am nervous about losing time in the commute, but hopefully it will all work out. I just joined, so I am catching up on posts - I look forward to meeting everyone too!
As a side note - anyone going to the transfer orientation on April 2? I will be there and hopefully will get to meet some of you!

I am thinking the loans can be applied to the UCF insurance which may be the reason why people opt for it.
They did not specify what kind of medical insurance was needed just needed something. Maybe they want just hospital coverage but if they want more than that I think its total BS to be honest because we will not be working and should be allowed to just see the free health clinic.

I will be there! Are you attending the all day orientation or the shortened one? I will be there all day. It would be great to meet up with anyone attending. I will also be at the CPR class on April 3...figured I'd make a weekend out of it:)...anyone else?
I can't believe how soon everything is happening, it seems like May is just around the corner and there's still so much left to be done! I just completed the background check today and was happy it wasn't too complicated, just a little time consuming, and they have a fingerprinting location in my town!
Hi guys...
looks like a lot of chatting going on in the past few weeks...i know i'm getting excited too!
As for the medical insurance, I don't believe that there are any requirements or specifications in terms of the types or amounts of coverage. However, at a minimum you'll want to have catastrophic coverage (this covers major medical expenses if you were to require emergency surgery for whatever reason). Typically the insurance offered by the university provides great coverage, though, as someone pointed out, you really have to take advantage of the student health services as opposed to using a private provider to see the cost savings. However, they usually are very accomodating to students and you won't find a long wait for appointments, unless you're seeing a specialist, and even then, it may just be a few weeks.
As for the transfer orientation on April 2nd, I'll be there too. I'm not familiar enough with the campus, but maybe we can find a way to meet up.
So looking forward to meeting everyone and getting started with the program. And thanks Brandydee for creating the facebook page. I think that will be a great way to communicate with everyone as we get prepared for May!
Best wishes to everyone!

I was planning on getting the "Go Blue" program with BCBSFL as well. The one through UCF seems to be much more expensive than this one. On the web site it says it is like $27 a month and then they will pay $50 of the doctor visit and then you are responsible for the rest of the cost. Also you get a discount if you choose providers in their network. I emailed Connie to find out if there is a limited amount of coverage that is required to have...so I'll let you all know what I hear back.
Also - I am attending the orientation on the 2nd and the CPR class on the 3rd. See you all there!
