UCF 2010-2011 accelerated nursing program

Published

I am applying and have requested all my transcripts, I did decent on the Teas test with an 86. Undergrad gpa 3.45, pre req 4.0

I went to the info session last month it was a bit of a pain :angryfire to sit through just to get the application passcode because of all the redundant you should do some research if your serious questions lol.

I am excited and hope to get in to move forward with my life goals of community health nursing.

I am also applying to UNF's program too. Their website is really detailed with everything I ever wanted to know. One of the few schools that have their stuff together.

Hey everyone! Man I wish I had read some of these posts last week when I was freaking out waiting to hear from UCF! I thought I was the only one. I know someone had said they received a postcard about orientation, I haven't gotten anything except for the CPR email. I of course had just taken a CPR course and they're not sure I would have to re-do it through their company, figures. :uhoh3:

When I attended UCF (graduated in 2003 so it's been a while) I lived in The Gatherings and they were pretty nice then. Far enough away to not be a major party place but close enough to get to class on time. I know the semester is going to be CRAZY but we can all get through it, right?!? :)

For the person asking about grades and such, I have a 3.6 cumulative GPA, 4.0 for the science pre-reqs, and got an 88 on my TEAS. I was honestly thinking my cumulative wasn't good enough but apparently it was! I keep checking my emails, mailbox, etc. for any information about the program. I think it's so weird that we have to go thru another orientation, especially since we've all been through the process before. I have tried registering for orientation twice now and both times an error message comes up, "Invalid SIS/ First name/ Last name". I don't know if this is referring to my PID, but I triple checked it and that's not the issue. I hope to get into the one in April, I really need to figure out my class schedule so I can find childcare for the summer! (My son is going into kindergarten in fall). Any other moms with young ones out there? I'm nervous but so excited! I live in Oviedo right off Alafaya UCF is not too far.

From what I found out, you do not need to attend the UCF orientation since you already have a degree from UCF. I am in the same position, and the registrar told me there is no orientation for readmit students. You applied as a readmit right?

Yes, I was a readmission. If I don't do orientation, how do I register for classes? I currently have no date under "enrollment time" and I really want to know what classes we are supposed to sign up for, etc. I thought it would be strange to have to go thru orientation all over again!

I got waitlisted so I'm really bummed. Could a few of you who got in let me know your Teas test scores/ GPA information so I know what I need to improve to apply next year? I've heard that noone from the waitlist got in next year so I'm kind of fearing the worst. Congrats to all who made it!

I am confused. I got waitlisted too but I scored an 89 on the TEAS, have a 3.7 GPA, and a 3.6 on all pre-reqs? I think there must be some other criteria for acceptance as I read some of the other postings that had lower scores and GPA's etc. so don't take it personally, healthnut. I have been bummed all week about this.

Hatter - the only criteria was TEAs, Overall GPA and Pre-Req GPA.

I am thinking they must have put more emphasis on the Pre-Req GPAs because I had a 3.9 pre-req and 3.7 overall and my Teas was an 80. Hopefully you will get in though!

Don't know FlyBritt. Some of the others here said their pre reqs were only 3.5 and overall 3.2 GPA with lower TEAS scores too.

Did you get anything in your e-mail saying you needed to complete pre-reqs? I wonder if they didn't find some of mine and are assuming that I haven't completed them?

There is also a nursing orientation where we will sign up for classes. This is different from the UCF orientation. I think someone said the nursing one is the week before classes, but I'm sure we'll get more info as time goes by.

Hatter, my acceptance email stated I am accepted pending completion of Chemistry. Other than that everything else is done. Have you applied to UCF, just the college and not the nursing program? If so, look at your degree audit after you log into myUCF.com. That will show you what pre-reqs they know of, all of mine are there including pending classes this semester. Also, on myUCF look at your transfer summary report to be sure all of the test scores got there.

I am already at UCF so my app was to to the College this time. My pre-reqs all show up on my degree audit so I couldn't figure out why I would get an e-mail saying I had been waitlisted and to complete my pre-reqs?

I actually asked the school and they told me all the e-mails that went out said the same thing...which made no sense then, and even less sense now.

Congrats again to everyone that got in!

UF Prospect - I currently live in Orlando and have been here for the past five years. I have lived everywhere from on Campus housing, to a house of campus, to apartments off campus. You're right in saying that rent here is not cheap. If you have any specific questions regarding apartments please let me know. There are some place around here you would not want to live (all freshman apartments/not so safe). I am looking to move downtown next year. It's a little farther away but a more grown up crowd and living environment.

Erinina- I am also a returning UCF student and I'm not going to orientation. As far as signing up for classes goes, you probably will not be eligible to do that until the nursing college gets all our paperwork straight.

Hatter- You're situation sounds odd. Since you go to UCF I would walk right up to the nursing office and speak to someone in person. I was up there a million times throughout the application process and they were always really helpful.

Everyone else- I also feel like I have a million questions. Does anyone know any specifics about the financial aspect of UCF's nursing school (tuition, uniforms, books, other expenses)? I am going to have to quit my job and live/pay for school off of loans, however, I have no idea how much I need. I asked the nursing school admin. assistant and UCF's financial aid office and they both looked at me like I was nuts! Maybe this information is posted somewhere and I have missed it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!

Bdiv87 - the UCF undergrad tuition rate is $150.85 per credit hour. The program is 72 credit hours so about $10861.00 for tuition. Books I hear are approximately $3000.00 and UCF do not appear to have a PDA requirement as some of the other schools do. I don't know about the uniforms as they have specific requirements and you have to get them from the UCF preferred vendor.

Hope that helps...Congratulations :o)

For those who got in, let us know how it goes. I am applying next year 2011-2012. I have a two-year old and was waiting until she got a little closer to school age, but reading some of the threads, I may need to wait another year :uhoh3:

Also for the transfers, have any of you or did any of you re-do prereq's to get better grades? All of mine are from 10 years ago and I have a 3.5.....Should I retake to get the better grade?????? any of you familiar with the Cocoa campus????? Help!!!! I just moved here and would love some info and direction!!! :)
