Hiya folks!

It's a bit early, but since the application period opens in a couple of months, I thought I'd start this topic to share support/encouraging words/info/nervousness.

Is anyone else already excited for next September?

Does someone who got in from a waitlist last year know if we can find out anytime between now and June 7th? Or does it have to be after the official day to accept the offer? I am 4th on the waitlist. Thank you so much in advance ?

That was my exact rank last year in those same categories and I was waitlisted at #80!

It will likely be closer to the deadline but doesn't have to surpass the deadline.

Thanks ? I ranked 1 in grades, 2 in supplemental and CASper.

In terms of (relative) affordability, you'll be able to find a lot of private rooms being rented out of houses in Kitsilano which is right beside UBC. It's prime real estate though so your money won't go nearly as far as it would in other neighbourhoods, but considering how many beaches and restaurants there are in the area, it's pricey for a very good reason imo ^^;

I personally chose to move back home to Burnaby (city directly east of Vancouver) after my first year, and I found that my commute didn't really affect my work-life balance (I was taking 5 classes per semester and working/volunteering 25-30 hours per week and still had time for friends/hobbies). I do live within walking distance of a Skytrain station, however, so my commute is only about 1-1.5 hours each way. In my experience, so long as you're close to a Skytrain station, you shouldn't have too much difficulty getting around as the bus routes stopping along them have been fairly reliable. If you want something close to the water with a lot of restaurants and businesses, sticking around New Westminister Station by the Quay is also pretty nice, but it is a bit further out.

For people on the lower half of the waitlist, are you going to go somewhere else/ accept another offer (if you got one) or are you going to wait and hope UBC offers you a seat?

I didn't apply anywhere else so I'm just waiting. I'm an optimist too, so I'm still holding out that I'll get an offer from UBC (AL 30's)

Hi! To those who got in - I got an email stating my acceptance, but when I got to UBC Services center I'm still getting this message "our application is currently being reviewed by the Faculty/School. This can take some time and we thank you for your patience. We will provide you with an update as soon as we can. You can continue to check the status of your application here on the Student Service Centre." with no offer of admission in the "accept or decline my offer" tab. In addition, I'm unable to see my 'ranking' for any of the categories like you are all mentioning above. Is this only if you are not accepted?

Hi! Congratulations on getting in!!

The quartile rankings are only available to those who were either rejected or waitlisted. All those who received acceptances are unable to view their rankings. I heard that the SSC takes about 10 days to update after the initial emails. All the best!
