UBC 2022 Nursing

Published

Hey guys! I just wanted to start this post for anyone applying for the 2022 cycle for UBC nursing.  Just wondering where everyone is coming from and their experiences.

Hi guys!

I'm also applying to UBC's nursing program for 2022. I will be finishing my degree in Kinesiology in April. However, my GPA isn't the highest. It's around a 74. Anyone else have around the same GPA as me? I'm hoping I can get in to one of the accelerated programs as I do not want do another four years of school.

Hey,

They look at the last 48 credits, don't get discouraged about GPA either, Kinesiology is not easy, just make sure to include all your experience in your supplemental application, good luck!

Hey everyone,

im working on the supplemental and noticed the first section (additional learning activities and accomplishments) has no word limit for each activity. The section on volunteer/work/family has a limit of 250 characters and all other sections also have word limits. Does anyone know what the limit is on the first section or if there isn't one???

Hi everyone!
I am taking the BCIT anatomy & physiology online course right now, to fulfil the HAP requirement.  There's an "interim transcript" deadline of Jan.31st for UBC Nursing, to show that the HAP course is in progress.  However, BCIT says they don't have interim transcripts, but the instructor said he would email UBC if needed, to confirm I'm in the course.  Is anyone else here in the same boat as me?  Wondering how to handle this and make sure I don't miss that deadline.

Thanks in advance ?

Hi Donna,

I think since it doesn't show a limit on those little sections, there isn't a limit - but I haven't tried to enter my answers in there yet, I'm just doing a draft in Word for now.  I wonder if you try to enter some answers, and save it, if it would show an error message if it's over a limit?  Sorry I can't be of more help!  ?

Hi Donna,

I found the following comment in the "UBC 2021" thread on page 16. However, I have not personally confirmed this with UBC or anybody else.

Hi there

I think somebody was enquiring about this. I found this on canvas under modules:

"Questions: Are there any word limits on Section 2 - List of Additional Learning and Accomplishments) in the BSN Supplemental Application?

Answer: Currently due to a technicality in the form, there is no word limit identified in this particular section/question. Even though a word limit not identified, the form may impose similar word limits.

Please limit your responses for this question to a maximum of 300 characters including spaces. "

I hope this is helpful!"

Hey everyone,

I have a question regarding HAP courses; I have completed HAP courses befoee, but I am re doing them at TRU (because I want to just boost my grade and existing knwoeldge for them as I previously took them 3 years ago- not sure if it even matters though). do you know if it matters how much progress I have done by January 13, and/or what grade is received in the HPA courses, or they just need to be completed?

I hope someone can answer this, but I have a question also about the Casper test! It says on the nursing admissions website that the casper test must be done by February 3rd (I have read everything on the website already, but I am unclear if this means that the test just needs to be completed BY/before February 3rd, or that the results must be in by then too?)

I would like to reschedule my January casper test date to February 1st because it works better with my schedule to test then, and I am wondering if it Is okay to take the test 2 days before it is due, or if it is too close to the deadline? Do they just want us to COMPLETE the test before February 3rd? Or results by then too? IM not sure, any help is appreciated, especially if anyone has asked this from nursing admissions people before!!

tl;Dr unsure if I should keep my January test date, or switch to February 1st test date, since the UBC website says Casper needs to be done by February 3rd?

Thanks for any replies in advance!

Hi nursing1357,

I found this on Canvas:

"Do I need to arrange my CASPer score to be delivered by February 3, 2022?

Please remember that you must complete your CASPer exam by February 3, 2022. For more information, please refer to the Important Application DeadlinesLinks to an external site. on the program website.

As long as you selected one of the available CASPer test dates for UBC-Vancouver BSN program, and paid the test and distribution fees to Altus Assessment before you complete the test, your score report will be accepted by the program. The program is aware that it will take a couple weeks to receive your score report after you completed the test."

That tells me that as long as you pick one of the dates UBC makes available for testing, it should be fine. I'm thinking about rescheduling as well. I think another person wrote somewhere in this thread that their CASPer test date is Februray 1.

However, it's just what I think. If you're really nervous about it, I would always check back with the officials.

Hope it helps. Good luck!

it is 50 words per section which is very short, I had written full paragraphs in word and when I tried to input these it said error when I saved it!

Wow, okay thanks Hannah!  I appreciate that - I'll definitely have to revise mine as well ?

Hey everyone!

Did anyone here take their Casper test on Dec 2? Have your results been received by UBC already? Mine haven't been marked as received yet and I'm getting a bit worried.. I'm not sure how long it usually takes them to update the student services site
