I scored 2’s on GPA and CASPer, 3 on supplementary. Was #34 on waitlist and got in. I think I scored low on supplementary because I didn’t have any nurse-adjacent experience. If I didn’t get in this year, I already contemplated the preparation I would have done to get in next year: First aid/hospital volunteering, and “San’yas anti-racism indigenous cultural safety training program” (because there was a significant section on systemic racism in this application)

Also, this site helped me (although some supplementary info might be outdated) https://sites.Google.com/view/ubcnursingadmissiontips/home

Good luck!!

I actually did all of those things (first aid, I volunteer at Children’s, and completed numerous cultural safety and Indigenous awareness courses and I didn’t even make the waitlist. I think they pulled names from a hat this year. Congrats on getting in though!

GPA - 2

Supplementary - 3

Casper - 3

I honestly think when people have around the same stats it’s luck of the draw in what number you get as I saw others with 2,3,3 and they had a high 70-80s spot. I’m surprised I got a 2 in GPA as I had a 96% average in my last 30 credits but there’s a lot of smart applicants this year! For life experience aside from my BSc. I worked for 3 years in a seniors home as a rec therapist, volunteered in various hospital departments + care facilities over the last 5 years and was in a lot of university clubs - I also focused a lot on indigenous health populations and did a research proposal on HPV vaccinations in rural communities.

Good luck next year! You got this!

Out of curiosity, did UBC let you guys know how many applicants there were this year?

At the 2023 info session, they indicated there were 700 applicants for 120 seats in 2022. There will be 150 seats in 2023.
