Hi all,
I was just wondering if anybody is also applying to the UBC Nursing program this year for the 2009 intake...and also, for those that are in the program, or have graduated from the program, would you kindly please tell me what the program is like, as well as your admission average (based on the 30 credits that UBC Nursing looks at) and your supplemental application...to better prep myself for the application process.
thanks in advance.
Woah~~~ it's so nice to see a forum for UBC Nursing!!! :)
I noticed that they changed the UBC Nursing website. Looks like some of the info are for 2010 intake instead of 2009 intake. I remembered before, they said that they would only take 90 ppl for 2009. Is this still hold true? Or are they really taking 120? Also, they said that we would get notify about our status by the end of the first week of April. Does this pertain to the 2010 again?
Are most of you guys going for a second degree in nursing?
Thanks~
I spoke to the Nursing Undergrad advisor not too long ago (just yesterday, actually). I think the plan for this upcoming September still holds true and that they are only going to admit 90 people because they're changing their program a bit to add in more clinical time.
A friend of mine thought that they didn't get enough applicants this year and that's why they extended the deadline. Unfortunately, it turned out that it was because they changed some process with the application and to be more fair to some people were confused and were applying, they gave them more time to work on their application. They still had over 500+ applicants.
Next year, they will go back to accepting 120 applicants though.
I'm still working on completing my first degree (graduating December 2009), and I'm planning on applying for next year's intake (September 2010). What about you?

Thanks _Angel_ for confriming.
GAHHH!!! 500 ppl applied?!?!? I thought only approx 350. Why the sudden increase ...? Let me see, 500+ ppl applied for 90 spots. The chance of each person getting in is less than 18% ::devastated::
They should just start w/ 120 this year lol~
I'm in my second year, but I really feel like there's a need to get in a program soon. The feeling of still being in General Sci is a bit stressful b/c it feels like I'm not getting much done lol~
Hear hear! I'm in Cell Biology and Genetics, and I feel that it's not much of a program that I want to be in...mostly because I don't feel like I'm really progressing anywhere (I am not interested in grad studies, or med school), and I've always been interested in nursing. 500 is really scary...it's already scary enough when it was 350...but with an extra 150 people, the competition went from intense to fiercely intense.
Just a quick note--I went on the UBC Nursing website just now. On the front page, there's an announceent saying that the interviews will be held on April 27, 28 and 29. If this is old news, then please disregard this, and if it's new news, then hurray =).
Sorry for the double post; normally I would just edit my last post, but for some weird reason, I cannot seem to be able to find the button that lets you do that in my sleep deprived state.
Cheers.
Where did you get that from? Because if it's from the revamped Undergrad section of the UBC Nursing site...I think that's pertained to next year's intake, because the advising people told me invites for interview should be sent out in the second/third week of April when I asked them way back in Feb. But things could've changed between then and now.
