Hi all,

I was just wondering if anybody is also applying to the UBC Nursing program this year for the 2009 intake...and also, for those that are in the program, or have graduated from the program, would you kindly please tell me what the program is like, as well as your admission average (based on the 30 credits that UBC Nursing looks at) and your supplemental application...to better prep myself for the application process.

thanks in advance.

Don't quote me on this, but from what I remember from my visit to the advising office, it is based on your last 30 credits when you apply. So that means that this term's grades won't matter. However, I would assume that if your grades somehow took a very dramatic plunge this term, it would act as a red flag to the admission committee...but that's the worst case scenario...but that's purely my own speculations. Again, I'm not too sure because they person I talk to kept on reiterating the last 30 credits count thing.

ahhh~~ so we'll be getting the interview decisions starting from tomorrow???... When I was working on the application, I was like April is so far away. But it's finally here. o___o I hope they send out the decisions early in the morning rather than at 4pm or something.

Coast, you mean they don't send out the whole batch of decisions all together but rather send 'em out in the span of 2 days(not including weekends)? That's strange :o

I'll definitely be on pins and needles for the next couple of days, that's for sure. But from what my friend that applied last year tells me, the invitations were sent out in a staggered fashion--a batch on the first day, a bathch on the second, a batch on the third...and so on and so forth. She didn't get her invite til 1.5 weeks from the her interview date...talk about giving early notice!

Well, good luck to us all =)

Edit: speak of the devil! as I was typing this reply out, UBC Nursing sent me an interview invitation! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time! Time to polish up my interview skills....good luck to those that are waiting again!

i got an interview invitation too! :) soo excited!

i wonder how many people they interview? i hope it's not an interview 200 but accept 90 type thing.

Congrats tareija! and yes, let's kick butt at the interview >=)

Hey gals! I just found out I got an interview too and I'm freaking out happy! Congrats to everyone! I can't decide what to wear... I was thinking a suit, or is that going overboard?

Congrats Katt, simplicity girl, tareija, and Jamie89! This is totally exciting and just made my weekend! I was wondering about attire as well...I think 'business casual" would be totally appropriate.

Can't wait to find out the date of the interview!

Great work gals

Yes, I think business casual is good to go. A suit wouldn't be too bad either--when in doubt, it's always better to be overdressed than underdressed. I need to go shop for a decent blouse/top to go with my dress pants...apparently I don't have anything that counts as "semi formal" LOL.

Hey gals~ Congratz on getting the interview!

I didn’t make it to the interview :bluecry1: And looks like I’m the only one here…When I found out, I was really about to give up on nursing and was considering my suitability… Gahh~ so depressing… But I’ll definitely re-apply!!!

My academic average is relatively close to that of the interviewed average. But my supplemental average is… HORRIBLE! I spent fairly amount of time on it and I was pretty satisfied with it. But it’s just horrible… my goodness… it’s a single digit o___o Seriously, out of 40. It felt like a stab. I didn’t think it was that bad. I really don’t know what happened and they don’t give feedbacks to individuals. So I was hoping that everyone could give me tips as to how I could improve my supplemental. What kind of experiences you all had? Did you have a lot of health-related experiences? In hospitals/nursing home? A lot of jobs/working experiences? What did you write about for your personal statement(if you don’t mind telling)

Don’t have to respond right away since you are probably busy preparing for the interview and studying for finals.
