UBC Nursing

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anybody is also applying to the UBC Nursing program this year for the 2009 intake...and also, for those that are in the program, or have graduated from the program, would you kindly please tell me what the program is like, as well as your admission average (based on the 30 credits that UBC Nursing looks at) and your supplemental application...to better prep myself for the application process.

thanks in advance.

I'm also applying and just finishing up my supplemental application. How far a long are you in the process?

My average is the minimum (B+) so i'm hoping my completed BA degree and my strong volunteer commitment will boost my chances of acceptance. Good luck to you!

Wow, you're so much ahead of me xD. I have just started on the supplemental application...planning on finishing it during the xmas break. Good luck to you too!

Hey, hope you don't mind me asking, do you live in BC or in another province? Which other schools are you applying to? :nurse:

I live in Vancouver, BC, and currently a UBC student. I'm also planning on applying to BCIT.

For UBC, I know the competition is extremely tough. A lot of applicants have previous degrees or professional qualifications. That being said, while a higher than minimum GPA always helps...volunteer experience and a very thoughtfully written 'essay' portion (if they still use that for the application) will definitely factor in as well. That was about 2 or 3 years ago now. Not sure if things have changed.

Above all... good luck, stay focused and be positive!!!! :)

Hello all,

I also have applied to both UBC and BCIT for Fall 2009! I'm just wondering when you are expecting to hear whether or not you have been granted an interview for UBC? And for those of you who have applied to BCIT when do you expect to hear back?

I'm already not a fan of this waiting game!

Thanks for the help

hey coastline! simplicitygirl told me UBC will probably be finished reviewing our applications by early March and those who are lucky will be invited for an interview before mid april. The interviews are for april 26-29 and those who are successful will be sent an acceptance letter my May. Not too sure about BCIT, maybe she can help you out with that. Good luck!! :0)

Thanks so much Clementine1, are you also hoping for an interview at UBC? Or are you already in the program?

I am hoping for an interview, coast. Hoping and praying each night before I go to bed LOL! It's nice to chat to others who are going through the same process as myself... do you have an undergrad degree already or are you thinking of transfering into the program? :)

wow, im glad to see this thread being revived! I thought people forgot about it xD Yes, like I told clementine (nice name, by the way), interview invites are sent out by mid april, interview taking place at the end of april, and acceptance letter out by mid may. Good luck to us all =)

And about BCIT, I believe the group interview takes place in June-ish. Not too sure, but its something I picked up from reading other forums. (I'm such a stalker eh?)

You are so right Clementine, its so nice to chat to others who are going through the same thing!

I do have an BSc in Human Ecology from UofA, what about yourself? Have you also applied to BCIT?

Thanks for the reply!

I'm in first year for BCIT. For BCIT there isn't a group interview anymore. Its just an essay and the forms that you have to fill out.
