Wow... I didn't think that this thread would come alive again. I haven't posted on this forum in such a long time. I'm really sorry to hear about your last midterm exam. Whether or not you should withdraw now and take it during the summer is totally up to you. The problem is that when you take it during the summer, although you can focus on just that one course, it goes in a really fast pace. You will still continue to have 4 exams in total in like 3 months. So be prepared to be studying for an exam every 3 weeks. I don't think taking it in the summer is necessarily going to be all that much easier, but if you feel that the issue at the moment is that you are too distracted by all your other course load, perhaps choosing to take it in the summer would be ideal. I know I didn't really provide much of an answer there, but I hope everything goes well for you. :)

Hey Gemini! (I'm a Gemini too!) I took BIO 153 last year (if I remember correctly, that's the one with the lab?). I found that for his exams, I have to pretty much study everything. I mostly focus on the lecture notes and if there's something I didn't understand (e.g. the female reproductive system - which was actually quite complicated) then I would read the lecture notes because they explained it a little better. The rumor is somewhat true. A lot of questions repeated from what I've experienced, but there were also some that were quite new and I've never seen before. Just make sure you study everything :)

MMI means "multiple mini interview" which is the interview format that UBC's School of Nursing uses. If you google for MMI interview questions, you may be able to find questions and practice from that. :) :heartbeat Angel

Hi everyone, As the summer creeps closer, the sooner I will begin my A&P pre-requisites for nursing school. I am beginning to think more and more about it and am getting somewhat intimidated. I told a whole bunch of people that I know (probably most if not everyone) that I want to go to nursing school after I complete the degree I'm working on now. But sometimes when I stop to think about it, I get scared and intimidated. Like, when I'm getting extremely hyped up, I can see myself being a nurse, but at other times, I can't. I don't really know who I can talk to about this since I made myself sound so determined in front of them. Has anyone else ever had this feeling where you can sometimes see yourself as a nurse and sometimes can't? :heartbeat Angel

I spoke to the Nursing Undergrad advisor not too long ago (just yesterday, actually). I think the plan for this upcoming September still holds true and that they are only going to admit 90 people because they're changing their program a bit to add in more clinical time. A friend of mine thought that they didn't get enough applicants this year and that's why they extended the deadline. Unfortunately, it turned out that it was because they changed some process with the application and to be more fair to some people were confused and were applying, they gave them more time to work on their application. They still had over 500+ applicants. Next year, they will go back to accepting 120 applicants though. I'm still working on completing my first degree (graduating December 2009), and I'm planning on applying for next year's intake (September 2010). What about you? :heartbeat Angel

Hi everyone, I saw a 3M Littmann Classic II SE Stethoscope Pink Breast Cancer edition for sale for approx. $80 CAD ($63USD). I am planning on applying to nursing school this coming summer. So with that said, I'm not accepted or starting any time soon (if I get accepted, I will be starting January 2010). A friend of mine who's already in nursing school said that she bought her at the beginning of her first year at school and it was really expensive and that if I can get it for something around $75 CAD it would be considered as a really good price. I know that Littmann's is a highly regarded brand, I was wondering if this is one in particular is considered as a good stethoscope? Is it a good price? Also, should I get it now, or I should wait until I get accepted because this offer is not going to last long. Will stethoscopes go bad and crack if I leave it unused for a really long time? Why do you say that it's a good school if you're not considering in doing a master's degree? Is it not possibly to get admitted into schools that offer the MSN if we do BSN's from Douglas?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew of any accelerated nursing programs available in the Vancouver Lower Mainland area. I will be finishing up my Computer Science degree in 2010 and want to move onto nursing because I already know that computer science does not satisfy what I want to do with my life. I know that UBC's nursing program takes 2 years, BCIT's take 3 years, Langara is 3.5 years. Are there any other options out there that doesn't take 4 years to complete?
