Hello,
I'm new to the site and I saw the thread for last years appilcants to UBC nursing so I thought I would start one for this year.
How is the application going for everyone, any tips from 2010 intake?
Looks like the SCC pages have the offers ready to accept or decline online... Check out the deadline date, it's JUNE 1st, not the 15th! (Just a heads up for everyone!) I went to accept and it had a notice about the deposit not being ready yet. I assume over the next few days they will activate the page that will allow you to submit an online payment (and give info on how much that is). I'd email SON, but I figure the more of our emails they get, the less time they have to get all this stuff ready for us... plus, it's early still.
Hey Erob and hugbug,
Sorry to hear you are waiting but I am sure you will get in. After our interview Bernie said that almost all of last years 25 waiting list people were accepted.
Just to let you know the system is not up and running yet so no one can accept/decline.
It says the fees haven't been established yet and to try again tomorrow, sorry it might be a few more days
Good luck
Hey guys,
For those of you on the waitlist, be patient! I know that's next to impossible to do right now, but it IS true, lot's of people do get off the waitlist and into the program. I speak from experience. I believe there were..about 25-30 people on the wailist for my year (2009 entry), I was #17, and I got an offer on the last day where people had to decide whether to accept or decline their offers.
Just know that UBC Nursing isn't everybody's choice of school, and people may have applied to other healthcare programs in addition to nursing, so not everybody that got an offer will accept it.
I know it's hard to wait, and if it helps, I bugged the admission clerk at least once a week when I was waiting to find out my current number in the waitlist.
Good luck!

Congrats to all of you that got in. As for some of your CPR comments, there was a lot of confusion during our year about if you needed your level C or your HCP CPR (health care practitioner). I'm not sure what they have decided this year BUT the nursing undergrad society runs a cheap HCP CPR class during your first few weeks of school... you can register during orientation (your first week) and it was $45 for my year which is a huge discount. So if you don't have your CPR then don't stress about it, you can sign up during orientation and get your HCP CPR (which is better than getting just CPR C anyways). You just need to have all your immunizations and CPR up to date by mid-october when you start clinical.
Those of you on the wait list I believe they had 25-30 last year... and apparently lots got in.
Congrats again and welcome to nursing!
