UBC nursing application 2011

I'm new to the site and I saw the thread for last years appilcants to UBC nursing so I thought I would start one for this year.

How is the application going for everyone, any tips from 2010 intake?

They are really really slow at processing things. I called them today as I was worried I hadn't received any confirmation of my prerequisite transcript arriving. I sent it around the 1st May and they only received it yesterday. Some of the letters say the deadline for transcripts is 30th June so people may accept and still not get in!

I hope you hear soon and don't give up!

Well I'm #2 now, so everybody advances 1 spot as of today! Slow but steady...

And application, what do you mean they still might not get in? What do incoming transcripts have to do with their acceptance?

Even if you accept the place you still have to:

Pass the prerequisite courses

Get enough credits

Have taken the correct courses

Take the courses early enough to get the transcripts in in time

Have the money

If you don't manage any of these things the places will be given to those on the waiting list, it isn't just a case of people not accepting the places. I am sure the waiting list will gather speed soon, good luck

Hey I was just wondering for those who have been accepted, have you received anything from the school of nursing yet? The only thing I have gotten from UBC is the letter directing us to formally accept on the SSC. In the e-mail they said a formal letter along with registration details, immunization info etc. would be sent after they received our offer agreement. I still haven't gotten it.

By the way, I'm really thinking of those on the waiting list right now! Good luck, I'm sure the list will be moving really quick soon:)

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and as far as I know no one who was accepted has received any further mail from the school of nursing yet =(. I hope we will hear from them before the postal strike takes it full effects. I too have only gotten the letter asking me to switch faculties on the ssc.

BTW, Does anyone know about a $100 deposit i'm hearing about? I heard you need to accept your invitation on the ssc and pay a $100 deposit fee to secure your place, but I keep checking and it says "your finances are up to date and you have no outstanding fees to pay". Not sure if i'm just blind and can't find the fee or if we need to pay it at all?

I am not sure if I know what you referring to :) ... but I know that when I accepted my offer of admissions in May through SSC that I had to pay a $250 tuition credit.
