U of C Degree holder/Transfer Route Nursing Jan 2016

Published

Hey everyone,

The applications haven't started yet for University of Calgary, degree holder, January 2016 but I wanted to make this so we can all suffer through the application process together!

Post your questions here!

Has anyone else seen that they lowered the number of seats for the classes? I swear that it was 124 or 128 and now it shows 110????? What's happening??? I'm sure about it as I've been checking how many seats are taken and how many are available and this morning it was 62 taken and 62 or 64 available, now it shows 63 taken and just 47 available...

I think U of C will be easier for A&P...simply because it is an "in class" mode of teaching.

I noticed that the amount of seats lowered too.. That's a lot of seats they took out, it is kind of nerve wracking.. Does anyone know what GPA they are accepting now? Its been like 2 weeks since I heard from the last post on the GPA.

They dropped the available seats even more today... total of 104 only... That's 24 less seats, 24 of us that could get in... I'm freaking out...

I spoke to admissions last week and she said they were still doing 3.5 and up. I don't know how long they give each wave to accept/decline their offers but that would be helpful to know. She did say they had "a lot of stellar applicants this year" which of course made me freak out a bit. Where do you guys see the number of seats?

Ultra_violet I took anatomy and physiology through Athabasca and liked it because I could go at my own pace. But if you learn better with a teacher it would probably be easier at U of C. It would probably have more guidance as well. I found with Athabasca I just had to memorize every little thing in the textbook which was 1200 pages... but at least I could wait to write exams until I was ready. I ended up getting an A though and I don't have a science background at all.

Also I see too that they lowered the number of seats to 104.... very weird. I remember when I talked to an adviser last year she said that next year (this year) would probably have less seats. But it's strange they would just lower it now...

Has anyone else received an offer lately? I'm still seeing that pesky green circle.

I emailed ****** in admissions last week and she said I would likely find out one way or the other by the end of the month. But it's almost the end of the month...

@kneuroknut I checked UCalgary, and there are 33 out of 104 seats left. Fingers crossed for you and the rest waiting for acceptance!

Hey guys, I didn't receive anything through e-mail or by actual mail, but when I checked the UofC portal this afternoon I found that I have been accepted! I am super excited, for anyone who is wondering my overall GPA for my degree is a crummy 2.7, but my last 10 courses GPA is actually a 3.1. I'm starting to think they may have considered the overall degree and what it entails. I did an Honours Biopharmaceuticals Degree with a specialization in Genomics. I'm really hoping its not a glitch and I get an e-mail soon.

Congratulations Soorieh! That's really exciting!

I'm so anxious over here... I've been checking this forum and the portal daily. It's killing me! I hate that stupid green dot.

Hope you get in! fingers crossed for you Carlene85, ill be looking forward to meeting you if you get in and everyone else as well :)
